I had problems with ecostore and switched to normal powder and then had a massive flood in the laundry and the only powder to survive was the ecostore (in plastic bag) so I went back to it and have had no problems.

I couldn't find any detol in the washing section so I just bought some regular detol, which said it could be used for freshening nappies. Hopefully it does the trick!

the problem with the eco store could be that it is sensitive to certain machines maybe?? Hmm that is strange. I use Ecostore too and will occasionally use Next Gen if Ecostore is out of stcok. Maybe people use more or less than recommended? Yeah, some people don't have any problem with it...weird huh?
I just went back and checked the thread on TNN, it said that Pippa from Snazzipants reckons that Ecostore and Persil Sensitive are the two that you will most likely get smelly nappies with. It was a similar discussion to this in a washing thread, a couple of people changed and noticed a difference.

I've actually heard somewhere (on TNN I think?) that Ecostore is one of the worst for causing smelly nappies. We stopped using it and now use Next Generation, still strip my nappies for smelliness but only once every couple of months or so. I haven't heard of dettol affecting PUL. When my nappies went smelly I used it for every wash for a week (to make sure all my nappies got a dose of it) and then I use it once a week or so now.

Stacey - does the dettol affect the PUL at all? And do you use it in every wash or just every now and then? The lemon verbena oil sounds yummy! Hi girls, I'm hoping you can give me some advice. I recently stripped my Fuzzi Bunz (and assorted inserts) according to the Honey Child website directions as my nappies have been getting very smelly. But I've noticed after the last couple of washes they are back to smelling yuck again, even straight from the wash. I use Eco Store powder (half a scoop full for half a loud of nappies) and add 2Tbsp baking soda once a week or so and always line dry (other than an occassional tumble dry - although hardly ever). I don't use any nappy creams so I just don't know where I've gone wrong. Any suggestions?
