Hannah will jsut sit down randomly too in shops if she doesnt get what she wants. I used to pick her up and just go, but now I cant pick her up I just start to walk off and boy does she follow me fast - I am learning to ignore the horrified looks of strangers at me walking away from my screaming child!!

I personally dont think theres anything wrong with a bit of material persuasion when you are out, as long as its not all the time. Hannah hates sitting in the trolleys now, but if I say she can get a lolly for sitting still the whole time, she is like a little angel!

I tryyyy so hard to use preventative techniques when out and about so I don't have to deal with it. But the other day I had to put Han in time out in the playground. Just sat her against a fence away from all the stuff and she screamed the whole time .

I do cut her a bit more slack when we are out as usually her bad behaviour is the result of being tired or hungry so usually my fault

If we are at someone's home I will sit the kid (i.e. Briona lol) in the corner and stand up against them facing the rest of the room and keep talking etc - for a minute just as if she was in the bathroom etc. If we are in a shop sometimes she is confined to the trolley for a minute or other such thing she is not happy for. Most of the time I use distraction. oh man it sucks doesnt it. Mine is usually a direct result of fighting. how do you discipline your kids when they misbehave while you are out? Taine threw the hugest tantrum today in woolworths - cause we drove past his nanas house and didn't stop. usually we would put him in his room til he calmed down, but of course that is impossible in Woolworths. So we ignored him.

jake does something similar where he will refuse to move. we move on and he waves and says "bye mum". Often i will just disappoear and wait for him to catch up, but lately concerned strangers keep talking to him, so I have to go back.

have tried delayed time out - but to tell the truth, I have usually forgotten the crime by the time we get back. Often just resort to bribery "be a good boy and you can have an ice cream". am aware this is probably not the best resort.
