Author: pekemoemum
Subject: 14611
Posted: 20 February 2008 at 2:52pm

Tyde has had a dairy intolerance too, and was on Neocate from approx 3/4months. I would do a big mix of porridge (and when still small I would puree it after cooking it) he LOVED it and I just made it with water, not milk and I would freeze it also, then add pureed fruit etc to it when I needed it. He still loves porridge. (cheap too!)
Also i know it sounds weird, but brown rice. If you cook it and cook it till it's gooey, then put it in the blender, it's really nutritious and you can either add veg or fruits to it (I would do a pot of it and then freeze little amounts of this too).
Tyde is 1 and has just gone back onto dairy and has had very little reaction so it's great (for us!) our dietitan said he 'may' grow out of it at a year, and looks like he has!
all the best.

Milk oaties are good (just make with water/breastmilk/specialist formula). They taste quite nice with just water and I add a cube or two of fruit puree to it.
You can also buy rice bread instead of normal bread (if you are avoiding soy as well).
Organic shops are good for milk free products, there is a make of rusk that organic shops normally stock which are free of all common allergens.
Rice crackers and rice cakes are awesome too, and we also found some animal crackers at the organic shop that are safe for him (and very yummy)
If you ask your plunket nurse they have a handout from watties with all the allergens listed for their baby foods.
That is all i can think of.
