I know of a lady who had 4 c-sections due to her having really wide hips which caused her babies to lie diagonally, she then had a set of twins naturally and they were breech, then one more child after that so I guess anything is possible within reason. I think it's just that of course doctors etc like to take the safest option. But the safest option is not always the best for us is it?

Thanks everyone for your comments and support.  I have been to see the doctor and it looks like I should be ok.  I had all the scar tissue removed when I had my daughter so that's gotta be a good thing too.

My best friends sister has had 6 c sections
1 set of twins
1 still born
and 3 girls

After the last baby they did say to stop because she was having them like a year and a half apart. I dont know how she did it, but she seemed to recover almost over night.
But I really dont think there is a hard and fast rule though. LOL Gaye, pregnancy sucks! I am over being tired and grouchy all the time and I have no motivation and just want to sleep all the time, and baby isn't even that big yet! I just want to fast forward the next 3 months!

It used to be two when they did the big vertical incision. Now they do the bikini line incisions without cutting through muscle (they just ease it apart) so you can have more. Now I think it depends on how your uterus holds up with all pregnancies and incisions.

In Dec when I had my third c-section my specialist said that I have a lovely healthy uterus and he'd be happy to do several more c-sections on me.

He is Dr Vijay Bhula at ShoreBirth in Takapuna. Hey Emma, thanks for that, I will send an email thru to Anil for sure.  I have no scar tissue now as it was all removed before Maren was born so it made recovery easier for sure.  I'm not even allowed to consider a VBAC at all after what happened to Daniel at birth so I automatically qualify for c/s, if I go into labour or my waters break, they just do it right there and then.

How's ur pregnancy going anyway and I'll pm you later about the other issue we discussed a while ago!!

Congrats Gaye!

After 3 c/sects they'd be incredibly reluctant to even consider a VBAC, in fact I don't know an obstetrician who would agree to a VBA3C, so finding one to do a c/sect shouldn't be too hard. Maybe go to our Ask the Experts page and flick Anil, our OB, an email, he'll be able to give you some advice on where to from here.

A fourth section will be a more difficult surgery than previous ones as each time you have one it creates more scar tissue to work with, but it's definitely doable.

Really, far out!!!!!!!! I'm not sure who in Auckland will do it without getting all snooty at me.  I was asked before and as I had Maren if I wanted my tubes tied and I was like, WAT THE??????

Never in my pregnancy was that ever mentioned, but hey thanks for that!!!

Hi, I've just found out that I am pregnant again and due in early Dec.  There is a strong chance that this time it will be twins (shock horror), but I just wanted to know if there is anyone else who has had 3+ c/sections as I've been told that you're not allowed to have more than three. (Well holy crap, this baby or these babies have gotta come out somehow and it ain't gonna be downstairs and that's simply because I can't give birth naturally).

Would love to hear your opinions/stories/advice!!
