She does not cough or arch her back during a feed or look distressed/irritable in any way.
She does get hiccups and she's vomiting. Hmmm... guess I'll have to wait until she's home so I can observe her more closely.

    Author: Kellz
Subject: 15790
Posted: 30 March 2008 at 9:14am

Isla had silent reflux. Its the same as far as the stomach acid back tracks up the throat after a feed burning it, and causing pain,..but with no spilling like in regluar reflux. So I would tend to not focus on how much she is spilling, usless its heaps and heaps obviously,...and look and the other symptoms.

Like Floss said, Isla would pull away, draw her legs up, and scream during a feed,..she only ever fed for a max of 3 mins a feed until she was finally diagnosed and correctly treated at 6 months old. I was told she was just an effiecient feeder cos she was still gianing weight ok-ish, but she was a terribly unsettled baby, and with the pulling up of her legs and screaming with feeds I knew something was up.
She never slept longer than 2 hrs day or night,..couldnt lie flat at all without screaming,..clentched her fits almost constantly,..and looked unhappy which I didnt really notice til she was finally pain free and her personality changed!

Definatly check out the website Floss said. They have lists of symptoms for diagnosis,..and action plans for treatment. And try slightly elevating the head end of her cot,..not sure how easy that will be in hospital tho. Good luck!

Edited by Kellz

Emma seems to handle her feeds OK if she's propped up or on my chest while having them but if she's lying flat, it seems to cause problems sometimes.
Anyways, my question is how would you know? I don't know anything about reflux and I'm a bit reluctant to Google it
