Seb will be definately wearing med till TTing. Thats true, no one item is overpriced at all, it just adds up I guess. Still well worth it in the long run. I am the same, used to paying $30-$35 for a pocket!! I might do the same and ask to get extra snaps on so she can wear the medium. It was something like $29 for the fitted, $32 for the cover, $8 for the bamboo booster and $5 for postage. No individual item is overpriced, I tink it's just cause I'm used to buying a pocket nappy with insert for around $30-35 and that's it. But because I'm needing an extra component (the cover) that's what's putting the price up. I'm counting on the fact that Leo will probably wear it at night for at least another year (or more!!) so it'll pay for itself over time.

It was definitely an investment at $74 for the nappy, cover & bamboo night booster! - but if it works then I know it'll be worth it (fingers crossed!!!).

You will have to let us know what you think of your DB's when you get it. I have been looking at getting a fitted and merino cover for Sophie for her night time nap, as I have ended up putting her back in sposies at night. I love the look of the DB's! They are gorgeous. Will have to talk to DH, I promised I wouldn't buy any more nappies! My knitted size turned out to be the same as yours, 4.5cm not 4cm. So when it came to the body I knitted the full 80 rows so I could get a little extra length in the rise. Aww cute of him. Ben doesn't actually know how much I spend on nappies I pay for our grocery shopping and the left over is my spending money so it comes out of there.

I just finished the first side and have done the waist ribbing on the second side. Thanks, it's nice to have someone agree with my buying theories!    I was worried about what DH would think of spending all that money on essentially one nappy but I brought it up with him on Friday and he pointed out that it was only 3mths worth of disposables (used only at nights) and if he uses it for another year or so then it's definitely a saving overall. When I pointed out that there was a risk that the nappy wouldn't suit his body shape and/or wetting but he just smiled and said "I'm sure you'll make the right decision, Dear. "

Bumme about your Baby Cuddles nappy - not a good look! I think I'll definitely go for a DB hemp fitted & merino cover. I really wasn't sure about sizing as Leo's 13kg and quite chubby, so at the upper end of a medium, but Angie has offered to put an extra pair of poppers on both the nappy & the wrap in a large so that should help if they're a little big. I was just really worried that he wouldn't get that much wear out of a medium. It's so nerve-racking to actually place the order though because it's so much money and it always takes me forever to make a decision about a big spend

I got a velour one, but one of the snaps ripped off staright away so i'm still waiting for its replacement. I use all my fitteds just with an extra hemp trifold shoved in there.

Just swapped a few emails with Gail from Baby Cuddles and got some more info. Terry is the most absorbant, but the bulkiest. Fleece is next most absorbant and less bulkier. Velour is only 70% bamboo and least absorbant (better for day use), where as the terry & fleece is 100% bamboo. The nappies themselves are only 2 full layers of bamboo fabric, with no sewn in boosters, so they can dry quicker. You have to buy those seperately and they come in trifolds or contour inserts. Sooooo, after all that they'd cost around $35 for a nappy with a trifold & contour - which is on par with Designer Bums hemp fitted (if you bought one of their bamboo boosters too).
