Our local Plunket has a play area which is great for rainy days when the kids just need a few different toys to play with. Get a friend over, it helps on power (heating) bills and gives you company at the same time. Can she use scissors yet? Although cutting paper is rather a messy game! well the tunnel worked a treat, kept both kids going on and off all afternoon...wah hoo.
thanks ladies for your great ideas, I had never thought about putting the mattress out to do tumbling on....will do this tomorrow....which will be a very easy thing to do since our bedroom is the lounge at the moment so it just means that we don't have to put our bed away
and I am so going to do the fishing thing, I had forgotten about that game, man I used to love it.

The MD's playground is pretty good but I hate going there cos I just can't help myself and end up eatting too many big macs so when everything else did fail, out came micky mouse on dvd, I put the little tv in her bedroom, set up her little couch and gave her popcorn...she truley thought she was in heaven!
Last year DD still had a sleep in the avo and ds was just a bubs. It is still a few months before DD goes to kindy so this entertaining all day is a bit new to me.

i know it's naughty, but if your DD doesn't sleep in teh arvo, y not visit your local video store as you can usually get 5 weekly movies for real cheap. and maybe that could b a rest time for both of you? Um do you have duplo or blocks? We love that here and the best thing is it entertains both of mine.

I made Jack a fishing game the other day. Cut out a whole heap of fish shapes, let her colour them in, put a paper clip on each one, tye a magnet onto a pencil and you are away.

Get a spare mattress out and do rolly pollies

play with play dough ($2 shop has heaps of neat accesories to use)

Go through old photo albums and make a special book for her

dress up warm and let her play outside for a wee bit

do some baking

a two bedroom unit with brand new carpet, two kids and rain rain rain outside....a very bad mix.
What are you all doing with your children now that the weather has turned...any suggestions very welcome.
we have done gluing and stamping this morning but DD is already over that.
