This is probably going to sound reallly dumb but I just bought one and CANNOT get the lid off! I have tried pulling it and twisting it but can't make the thing budge. It's one of the ones from a supermarket for 6 + months and is purple and green.

Does anyone else have one of these who can tell me how to get the lid off? My fingers are sore from tugging at it and I'm sure if I go any harder it will break. Do I have a faulty one or is there a trick to it?
