Also doesn't need to be refrigerated so easier when we are out and about! Have found though that the dropper works well but mainly if I split his dosage. He is meant to have 4mls each day, but that was just too much in one go and he really hated it. I now give him 2mls in the morning and 2 mls late afternoon and that works much better.

We used to be given the capsules, and we went through all the rigmarole of trying to grind the grains down and then mix them with water or milk and syringe into his mouth, only for it to be spat straight back out again.

In the end my Plunket nurse told me to just pour the granules straight from the capsule onto his tongue and then immediately feed him so that he swallows it all. Worked a treat!

Harry started on Gaviscon after his 3 month check I think, and at first he hated it. I think it came out too fast from the syringe. He took it so easily from the dropper, and got used to the taste and now LOVES it... best $3 I've spent in a long time. Now that he likes the taste, we make it up a bit thicker and give it to him from a spoon.

Good luck

I suggested it to Liz (Arohanui) too, a while back , and it worked good for them too. Harry was a lot younger than Isla was when I was using it on her, so it should work for you. I had to ask the chemist as they werent on display.

Isla never had Losec, but was on gaviscon and ranitidine (total of 8 administrations a day) from 5 months, so older than your boy.
But we found the best thing was getting a large dropper from the chemist. It was a big 10ml one (I think) and cost like $2,...I measured the meds into something else, then sucked it all into the dropper, then slide the end down the side of her mouth near the back,..like along where there teeth will be one day,..and she would take it fine like that,...could close her mouth around it and swollow. Never found the syringes good cos they were too large to fit comfortable in her mouth.

We have to give Oliver (almost 8 weeks old) 4mls a day and I am giving it in a syringe, but he hates it! Also when I give it to him, he gets terrible wind, cries heaps and we have to wait at least 30 minutes before I can get him to take a feed. I know the Crying Over Spilt Milk website recommends you follow the drugs with a feed, but he just won't - due to the wind I think.

Any suggestions welcome...
