Sorry to hear what you have been going through. As you said, its exactly what I've been through.
Did you end up having a d&c or mc naturally? We are here for support if you need us!

HI Nerfertiti

I am currently going through what you have just gone through. I have spent the last 3 weeks doing bloods and scans because at my 7 week scan it showed a sac but no baby. I think they call it a 'blighted ovum'. This weekend I have started bleeding, so I guess I will be booked for a D&C next week.

Like yourself, I feel emotionally ok...and I think it is because I have had the last few weeks to prepare myself.

I was wondering how long you needed to wait before trying again, it looks like at least 1 Af is the general idea?. I will be sure to ask at the hospital this week and let you know.

Thanks everyone. I have heard women are quite fertile after a m/c. Each time I have had one, its taken me a couple months to get preg again. I think I'd like to wait until I get an AF. I have also decided to start back at the gym this week as I'd like to lose some weight first. But who knows......
I have appt at doctors on Wed, and hopefully she'll have the results from all the blood tests I had at the hospital. There might be some answers there.

I think I am ready emotionally to try again. We were told to wait til I'd had one AF, we did and I got pregnant straight away, I got my BFP less than 8 weeks after the d and c and it turned into a pair of cheeky gremlins.

I asked my specialist and he said to wait one cycle and then should be fine. Hey, sorry to hear about your m/c.

When I had my D&C last year they said wait until I had at least one period to make sure I was regular again. AF came practically 4 weeks to the day of my D&C. We started trying after that first AF and 9 months of charting and trying later, we fell pregnant again - and are due in October!

Good luck with your TTC, don't stress too much about it (like I did) cos it certainly didn't help me.... but thats easier said than done.

I second what Kazza said..my doc said 12 weeks(but mostly as we had to wait for levels to get to and stay at zero... and we tried as soon as we were allowed but did wait 12 weeks.. then got pregnant.. when i had my dnc done the doctor doing it said i could start try after 6wks, my doctor said 3 mths...(6wks is so you get your cycle back)....while there is a chance you may miscarry again if you get pregnant straight away, there are plenty of ppl who have gotten pregnant and havent miscarriaged.

unless there is a medical reason for the miscarriages (like me) then the chance of miscarrying is low (well thts what my doctor said).

I don't have any experience with d&c's but did your doc say why 3 cycles? I had a d&c nearly 2 weeks ago. My DP and I are wondering about when to try again. My doctor said 3 cycles, the hospital didn't even give me any info at all about further pregnancies or protection! And then I've also read a lot of women get told to wait so dating can be easier. I do know about Hcg levels needing time to go down also.

So aside from all that, I'd like to hear about personal experiences in this situation.
In my situation, I had a sac but no baby...not that it made it any easier!

I've also read that sometimes there is more risk of a miscarriage if you get pregnant immediately after a d&c due to the lining being very thin.
