If you are a stay at home mum/work part time Playcentre may appeal. You get to stay with them and it does mean putting time and effort in, but you can make really good friends. You may want to try a couple of different ones to get a good fit. You are allowed 3 free visits before you have to decide. I can recommend swimsation. My boy goes to the school here in palmerston and just loves it. They do lots of activities and games. No big pressure if your bubba isn't into it either.
