Typical, isn't it.

For the ICSI procedure, all up it was about $10,000.00 (wow, you are thinking!!). So, we have had to pay $20,000.00 so far. That goodness we have had a wee bit put aside.

It will cost the same with egg donation so as you can imagine we do find it very frustrating having to pay ourselves. I feel like writing to Helen Clark and asking her to change the system for goodness sakes. I am just pleased that we have put some aside for the purposes of the treatments, but, how long can you go. Its not like you can pick it off trees!

So, thats the bad news of paying yourselves, it ain't cheap that's for sure.

Well girls, hope you have a lovely Sunday. The weather is fab. Enjoy.

Take care.

We have been added to the list, next JUNE ............... 10 month wait on the public list. So we are going to fund one ourselves this November possibly. If we pay, we can do it anytime that suits us. Of course any treatment that starts now you have to consider that they are closed over December/January for two weeks.

Have you been granted public funding? next June sounds and feels like a lifetime away aye ....

Scared, well, only of it not working again after the IUIs ..... I have read plenty of books and my DP received his Menevits today, so 3 months at least til that kicks in.

We have just finished our 2nd cycle of IUI. Have been told by FA Wgtn that we need to do ICSI now. We have a ten month waiting list, so we will pay to have a cycle in November. Would love to know more, the costs, stresses, support groups etc. Perhaps we could email each other, im in wgtn too. My sister was also told that she would never concieve due to eggs being 'scrambled' at the age of 40. She didnt do any of the IUI or IVF cycles as these werent offered. She gave up and started down the adoption track. One year later she fell pregnant and gave birth this year to a healthy bonny baby girl. She was 42. .... there is hope at there and my fingers are crossed for you both.

Both cycles a BFN. I was 40 when I did my first cycle and have had to pay for both the cycles. It can be very costly if its not government funded. But, because one is so determined, you just don't want to give up.

I have now been told by FA that my only hope of becoming pregnant is by egg donation so my path has taken a different turn and am now seeking a wonderful egg donor at the present time. Bummer! And I have now dealt with both FA akld and FA wgtn - and the frustrating thing is that they dont line up with how they do things - middle of my first clomiphene cycle was spent going btw both clinics and I ended up having 3 unnecessary blood tests because they didnt agree on things - thats five blood tests in five days - my arms look like a heroin junky! Will stay put in wellington from now on during the cycle. I find out if im preg on Friday!
I have been warned that if there's too much of a mess in there (they suspect grade 3 endo) I'll need to go through IVF too - but sorry I'm not too sure at this stage what the points system is really like and all that to get public funding. FA are holding a free seminar tonight actually, dunno if you knew about it and have registered but I guess a lot of this sort of thing will be covered... might be a bit late to register now but you could always ring them up and see if you do want to go.
