yeah i only had the OB appt before i went into labour.....had to have the thingee in my hand too, which i hated!

Yeah I agree with avoiding the pain relief as it can mask a rupture. I had a cannula (?) in my hand in case of a real emergency c-section as they can be raelly hard to get in under stress. They said it was because it took them a long time to get the epidural in last time so i'm wondering if I have to have all the bits in place,( just not the drugs), so I can be injected straight away if there is a problem. They said they want me to labour for as long as possible with no pain relief so they can tell immediately if something is wrong. Ah well I guess I will find out in a week or so.

Hi Lisa, no I only saw the Obstetrician regarding my VBAC's, not the anethistist. Why'd they say this was necessary? Hi Ladies,

For those who have had a CS and then gone on to try for a VBAC, did you have to have a check up (peri - operative assessment) with an anaesthetic clinic before you went into labour?

I had an OB appt last week and they said they are happy for me to try for a VBAC but have to have this appt first.

What do they do? It says on my letter it could take up to 2 hrs for the check up.
