Update, her bottom is

clearing up and not only that, her ankles and back of knees that been bothering her since she was 12months have start to clearing up too

how? just remove soy from her diet

Knowing my OH's niece and nephew is severe allergic to peanuts & tree nuts and my OH is allergic to fish..I know I can't risk it..
My old GP looked at blank when I requested allergy test for my DD because of my son's, my OH's and family history of allergies. He said "Why can't you just give her peanuts and egg to save all the hassles of tests"

Had to see another GP (his wife

) to her to be test!! And the test confirm she is allergic to peanuts & egg (we found out about tree nuts allergy later)

I dunno if he does discounts, I know that the price includes the cost of the skin prick test as follow up appointment are only $150. You might be able to pay over a few weeks or something though, I just stuck it on the credit card to worry about later

I think the trouble here is that a lot of GPs and paeds just don't understand enough about allergies. We saw a developmental paed with Spencer before he was 1 and they guy couldn't understand why Spencer was on such a strict diet, yet any allergy booklet/info tells you to restict certains food until after 12 months if there is a history of allergies. He kept banging on about why don't I let him have eggs and questions like "what not even in biscuits?" I had to tell him that egg alleriges are strongly linked to diary allergy which we already knew he had so why risk it when it wasn't doing any harm not giving it to him. I don't feel 100% from our children's NZ paed since first visits after had good experiences with allergy clinic in UK.

If you can afford it I highly recommend seeing Rodney Ford, he is also based in Christchurch but is private. He is an allergy specialist and deals with children. He will do skin prick testing at the first appointment so it cost about $275 to see him.

I found him really excellent and the test doesn't hurt, Spencer found it tickerlish. We live in canterbury. My children is already under specialist care at CHCH hospital who is paed! I have emailed her and got it back as it is not allergy reaction as didn't have swelling etc...eh??
Oh gosh! I decided to withdraw soya and beans from her diet to see if there any change

Some doctors really need to be shot in my opinion. Spencer's ezcema is entirely allergy related, I would be demanding to be referred to a paed and one that specialises in allergies or if you can afford it self refer to one privately. They will be able to the skin prick test for you and help with elimination diets if they think it is an intolerance, I know that coeliacs can be really hard to test for, some times come up negative on skin test and blood test but can still have it.
I would be really reluctant to just use steroid creams on it as that isn't finding out the cause its just masking the symptoms (unfortunately western medicine does this a lot).

Which part of the country are you in? Isla's eczema was entirely food related- we know cos its now completely gone on a diet eliminating a whole bunch of stuff that the nautropath put us onto. We havent made any environmental changes. Steroid creams would take the nasty redness away, but it never dissapeared.

I wonder where abouts on her body the eczema would have to be for the dr to think that food intollerance was a factor??!!
Isla's eczema covered her entire torso- back and front, her upper arms and behind her knees.

I would see another Dr for a second opinion, or even phone plunket and ask them if they know of a Dr with experience with eczema/ food intollerances and allergies in your area. Our plucket nurse was really good about Isla's eczema- she even had contacts on the Paed ward at the hopsital and was able to directly refer us to the ezcema nurse specialist without going through a dr!

Saw GP this afternoon, he doesn't believe in allergy or intolerance are the blame for her bum's eczema

even I explained family history of allergy, ezcema and asthma. So he gave me stronger steriods instead

because her ezcema is localised to bum as well as ankles and knees. Not effect all over the body (oddly she got some around her mouth at the moment which she doesn't usually have it)
I will try crack it somehow....that is my mad goal

Yep, most supermarkets should have it. The one in the bigger bottle isn't very moisturising. It's not made for treating eczema, it's made for regular dry skin, but we found it good. where I can find JJ soothing naturals moisturiser, from any shop?

She already got known allergies in egg, peanuts, tree nuts and grass pollen. She did had milk and soya intolerance as baby but I thought she outgrown it as she stopped sick at nearly 12months old after had milk/soya...
I know there is no test for milk & soya intolerance, so it is case of elimiantion out of her diet to see which one is the blame if causing her bum problem. Tonight it was in bad state, that I am thinking of taking her to dr but we just seem been to dr every days at moment because of my youngest child

Thanks for your help as been banging my head on the wall with her as she is sooooo whinging child, not like her for last few weeks

I found the same too, Stacey - JJ soothing naturals moisturiser (the one in the tube) works far better than the creams prescribed for Ella's eczema. It's trial and error though, isn't it. Unfortunately!
Maybe a trip to the Doc to ask about it, Soph? Though I'm guessing you've already seen them if you're using hydrocortisone on it. Hmmmm, good luck. Daniel gets it on his thighs. We just use jj soothing naturals and that clears it up if I moisturise it a few times a day. It sounds like she has a food allergy I'm afraid. Do you find the eczema gets worse about an 20 minutes to an hour after eating something?

I got really bad eczema when I was her age, and it was finally diagnosed as an allergy to cow's milk and its products (but mine was diagnosed at 13 months). I still get eczema when I have something with milk products in it, even though I'm 23!!!! She may have a dairy allergy, or an allergy to something else.

Maybe if you can afford it, or through a referral in the public health system, to see an allergy specialist. At least if you know what the problem is now, she is better able to deal with it when she gets older.

Once the allergy has been identified, you'll still need to use washing powders and soaps that are kind to sensitive skin.

She is 2half and been out of nappy since she was 19months. Her ezcema started early this year, just after her 2nd birthday

she always had very bad ezcema in her ankles and normal ezcema behind her knees. The bottom ezcema is so bad as she keep said "sore" pointing at her bum, got to the point that she prefer to wear nothing all day if we are at home!! but wear pant & trouser or skirt if we are out..
We tried ecostore (forget these cos she did reacted badly!!), persil, persil sensitive, NEXT generation.....
For cream, we used hydrocorstione & lemnis fatty cream. Used to be on 50%/50%, E45, in UK

Nah i was pretty lucky in that department....But i used Amo-Lin to wash Lycans clothes...and his clothes always got washed separately.

What washing powders have you tried?
What cremes are you using on him?

I also let him have free nappy time as often as possible....

Has anyone got a child with bad ezcema on the bottom? Did you ever found out what cause it? look like red burn with flakey dry skin.
I thought might be washing powder, 4th washing powder on, i still haven't crack it
