I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth as well - I had two miscarriages (both blighted ovums) and a host of other worries. But here I am at 35 weeks, having had an almost text book pregnancy so far.

So, please don't worry that two miscarriages mean a problem. I also have friends who had success on their third goes. If you are unlucky enough to have a third miscarriage, then they will start doing lots of tests for you.

I had early pregnancy monitoring through Fertility Associates in Wellington. Although they had been looking at a few things for me, I think anyone can pay to have this done. It cost about $180 and it meant I had HCG testing every few days. Some people would hate that, but I found it really reassuring. I also took the asprin.

No one really knows if progesterone works to help sustain a pregnancy but they think it might and its cheap with few side effects. Helen thats great! It always helps when you get a plan in place to help things along and make your live easier . I hope you dont have to wait another 6 months for a BFP though

Just out of interest/curosity (so?) though, what will the low dose aspirin and progesterone suppositories do to help with pg?

Well, I spoke to the nurse a couple of days ago and apparently there was nothing unusual in my test results.

The nurse told me I should be reassured and I would be if I didn't know that many people have multiple miscarriages without doctors finding anything wrong. It would also be more reassuring if I knew for sure that the m/cs were caused by dodgy chromosomes in the embryo which most likely wouldn't happen a third time in a row.

So, going by past experience it will probably take me about 6 months to get pg again. The plan will be to start taking low dose aspirin and progesterone suppositories as soon as I get a BFP. I am also going to an acupuncturist and am thinking of getting counselling and maybe going on bedrest for part of the first trimester.
