We've seemed to go the other way, after being quite a good sleeper James was climbing into our bed every night and waking me up by kicking us, clinging to the edge of the bed. Now I've put a mattress on the floor and he sleeps on that which is slightly less annoying at least I might get to sleep all night without waking. But I agree Katie sometimes its too hard to force the issue, I know James won't be doing it when he's 20.

He did pretty darn well and we have only ever had to bring him back in with us when he is sick etc really.

Just like a 'normal kid'! I NEVER thought I would use the words 'normal' and 'sleep' when it came to Ash. . . unless of course the sentence was "Ash is the worst sleeper in the history of the world, I just wish he would sleep like a normal child" haha. (okay I know there's no such thing as a normal kid and most kids do have sleep issues, but getting up every hour for 2 years seems totally ABNORMAL when you are doing it. hehe.)

So anyway, to sum up my ramblings, we saw an improvement in his waking every two seconds when we both decided to stop bf, just after his 2nd birthday. Then at 2.5 he was perfectly happy to sleep on his own.

I have to stress that these were the right times for both of us, and if I had tried to force the matter before this (and I am pretty sure I did, because to be honest it was very hard) then it would have been a no go.

So Miss Shelbi will decide to be nice to you sleep wise eventually I PROMISE!!! You wont be rocking her to sleep when she's 8! The best thing I did with Ash, was to give him whatever he wanted and feed him whenever he wanted at night. It was awfully hard, but for some reason I knew it was the right thing to do. That might not work for everyone but for us, it was just the way to do things.

And now he skips off to bed all on his own, has a story and says "Good night I love you Mummy, see you in the morning, don't forget to be quiet" and I don't hear from him till the morning! If Ash can do it, the original 'allergic to sleep' boy then anyone can. haha

Edited by Katie_R

Are you still co-sleeping or room-sharing?
Shelbi is the exact opposite of Jody and does now like sleep. We're finally in a routine where she *only* wakes 4 - 6 times a night and gets up at around 5am. I don't mind actually, quite used to it now. But I do wonder, since she doesn't self settle at ALL, will I still be feeding/pram-walking her to sleep in a few years time?

I think B12 injections worked for a while during her first major long episode.

Slowcooker Rice Pudding Breakfast;
-Some shortgrain rice (I use 1/2 cup and that's plenty for me and Shelbi and some muffins)
-about 4 - 5 times as much liquid as rice (I use half milk, half water).
-Some fruit (chopped apples, canned fruit, feijoas etc)
-Vanilla essence
-cinnamon
-nutmeg

I cook mine on low for about 11 hours because I go to bed so early, but it probably only takes about 8.

How to make it into muffins;
Preheat oven to 170
To left over rice pudding add;
-1 or 2 eggs
-1 tsp guar gum (from the gluten free baking needs area at the supermarket, kind of pricey but lasts for ages and it's used in heaps of G/F baking)
-some gluten free flour (I use rice flour)enough to make it thick and sticky
-1 - 2 tsp baking powder
-a bit of sugar to taste

Pour it into greased muffin tins and bake for about 20-25mins.

If you want them to taste like chocolate cream puff, ice them with that half cream, half chocolate icing, I can't remember what it's called but;
Melt equal parts cream and chocolate. Cool to room temp. Ice muffins.

Edited by Chickoin

She got it when she was quite young, like 14 or 15 I think, missed heaps of school, lost a lot of friends, got so behind in education there was no point even trying to catch up in the end. Anyway, she's had heaps of ME episodes, like she'll just get a normal cold and suddenly crash and be out for weeks or months. Stress makes it worse. Orchard sprays too. Her last big long ME stretch was when we were working together and she was living near an orchard. She crashed hard, then the boss kept hounding her for an exact time when she plans to get magically better, the other boss kept telling her HOW to get better (silly things like going to Chch to see some random specialist or just exercise more). SOOOOO stressful. She didn't get better until she moved in with her parents and quit her job. She's been heaps better since having kids though.

Baby needs me.....

Wowzers, Kasper is 13??!!! He'll be a man soon!!!!
Sorry to hear you have ME and CD, Katie. My bestie has ME and it SUCKS. I am no longer eating gluten either. BTW, yesterday I had yummy fruit and rice pudding stuff from the slowcooker for brekky, then made the leftovers into muffins and put chocolate icing on them. OMG. They taste like cream puffs.

Yay, Chonny, I hope you're having fun, sending baby girl dust your way xx

    Author: Katie_R
Subject: 20887
Posted: 24 May 2012 at 8:21am

Hi guys! Good to pop in here again! We are waiting for Ash's next clinic. He needs another open heart but they said that we may be able to wait till he's around 5. Which sounded good at the time (like a year ago) and now it seems right around the corner. But no, it is ages, and he's doing just fine! His wires are still loose and I think hurt sometimes, and he says he gets puffed and looks like a smurf sometimes too. But overall he's totally winning!

He goes to preschool 2.5 days a week and loves it. His teachers are in love with him it's very cute.

I have never come across a more precocious child though hehe. I have heard stories from some of you guys about this with your little people, so I am sure you will know what I mean. He speaks better than some 9 year olds I have met haha. Everyone that meets him are a little bit struck with it. He's all 'Oh Mummy this is nonsense, I have no time for this, I much prefer to play with this or that. By the way I do feel rather upset when you tell me I can't play with it of course"

His favorite words are rather, by the way and of course. I can't keep a straight face when he tries to pile them all into a sentence haha.

Kaspar is almost 13.

One last bit of news, I got my dream job about 6 months ago as a personal assistant, office manager and programme coordinator for this AMAZING organisation, then I got sick! Just one day, 3.5 months ago, I got sick and didn't get better, I was stuck in bed literally unable to walk, I had to get carried to the bathroom, for 2 months. The doctors said it is CFS/ME. I am slowly getting better and now I can handle 'my life' haha. Ups and downs but overall much better! I did lose my job though. Boo. Also this week I have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease, which is either the reason for my illness or just adding to how bad it is. Gawd.

Anyway, sorry for the big post. I have about a year to catch up on. haha.

And NO plans for #3 thank you very much!! Cool to see you trying Chonny!! I will have to keep an eye out for any news!!

I will take a look over this page and do a tiny bit of a catch up!!

xxxx

Edited by Katie_R

Boys are getting so big now. i cant believe Vincent will be 6 this year :( He is doing REALLY well at school, reading at level 17 so almost 8yr old, writing pretty good, just his penmanship holding him back these days. already in year 1-2 composit class but having to go to a year 2 class for reading as his teacher doesnt have any books high enough for him. i have a feeling he may be moved up to year 2 by the end of next term. guess we will have to wait and see. I love seeing everyone's pics on FB. Fi i cant believe Levi si almost one already!!!!! Where has the time gone????

Well, got new laptop and good internet connection so happy to be back on line. had a very rough end to last year with the custody getting sorted, got broken in to, family issues etc. But onwasrds & upwards i say. and this year is going to be a great one.

Love to all, catch up soon :)

p.s i wonder how Ash is doing with his heart??

I thought having Jody out for 4 hours would give me plenty of time to get things done but nope!

We'll be changing to full days soon. Preschool goes back on Monday so once the initial excitement wears down a bit we'll change to 3 days of 9 - 3. I thought it would be too much for her when we first enrolled but she absolutely loves it and by the end of last term she was staying awake for an hour or 2 after we got home anyway.

We have just started day naps with no nappy. No accidents yet and Jody loves sleeping in knickers "just like mummy". DH accidentally forgot to put her nappy on last night though and she freaked out when she peed in the bed, oops. We all just had a laugh at Daddy for being so silly though and she was fine after that.
And yay for nearly 20kg gone!!! I've been fortunate to lose weight almost by accident (kind of intentional once I realised I could) and am back to the lowest weight I've ever been. (lost about 10kg in the last few months I think, I wasn't keeping a close eye on it earlier on though as the scales were too scary lol.) Still trying to knock off the last kilo, but it won't make any diff to how I look now, just how I feel, and give me a 'safety net' for those bloated days :P Have had to buy a whole new wardrobe cuz nothing fitted me and it feels soooooo good, I fully recommend it! (I hit all the sales before Christmas and TM and got a whole lot for a ridiculously small amount, yay for bargain hunting!)

Amby, Bethany goes to kindy two days a week, 9-1:30. It's perfect, I couldn't bear the thought of full days (most kindys are these days) so found this one. They're lovely there and it's working out well. I can start her on a third day as soon as I like, but I'd rather not as I love having her at home. Fridays are 4yr old days, so I think I'll give her a third day when she turns four (or next year). But no more than that :)

Better fly, dinner's getting ready (yay for wonderful husband's!) and the girls are a wee bit scratchy in that typical sibling way ;-)

*edited cuz got the preschool hours wrong, whoops!

Edited by kmarie

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and NY.
That would have been quite traumatising for you to have to hold Kaitlyn down :( I'm glad she can't remember and that it has improved her speech so well.
Awesome that Bethany is writing and drawing so well. Also great that she loves kindy, I hope next year goes well too. What kind of hours/days does she do? Jody's at pre-school 3 mornings a week, but we'll be changing her to 3 full days soon since she seems to really enjoy it (and I enjoy my time out!)
Love the questions this babes come out with, although they ask 10000000 questions a day, some can be quite amusing.
I can't believe Shelbi is 4 months either! I keep thinking she is so advanced for a new born haha. All day I put her on her back, she rolls on to her tummy, cries, so I roll her back. Repeat for an hour, then back to bed. But she is delightful, very smiley and chubby and cuddly and yummy all over!
Right, better get back to the housework before Shelbi wakes up again!
xx

    Author: kmarie
Subject: 20887
Posted: 03 January 2012 at 1:22am

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!! Hope you all had an enjoyable and memorable Christmas too :)

We had a lovely Christmas with two very excited preschoolers and many many places to be at once for various meals. Was lovely seeing all the family a few times over, although the girls were thoroughly exhausted by Christmas night. We've followed that up with nearly 10 days completely at home (with Mike working between the stats) toilet training Kaitlyn. Who just so happens to be a star at keeping dry, am so proud of her!!! She also had her tongue tie laser surgery op a month ago (or so) and her speech has jumped ahead in leaps and bounds as a result, very exciting (made the trauma worth it as it was quite a full on experience for mummy who had to hold her down during the procedure. She was sedated so doesn't remember, but I sure do!).

Bethany is absolutely loving kindy, though was very ready for the holidays after her 8wk start to being a kindy girl. Her imagination and creative play has grown in leaps and bounds, and she absolutely loves drawing and writing - can write B, e, o, a, H confidently. She's going to love words like her mummy, I can already tell! Oh and she drew her first identifiable picture of our family about a month before Christmas so we did collage canvas paintings together with Kaitlyn and glued her pictures of grandparents etc. on top for them to unwrap for Christmas. And one of our family for daddy that we have proudly on the wall :) She's soooo curious about everything and comes up with the amazingest (I'm sure that's a word ;) comments and questions. On our way home from Christmas shopping: "Mummy, shopping is hard work, eh!" Then, "Our money is in lots of different places, isn't it mummy?" When asked what she means: "Because we give lots of different shops our money when we buy things." Priceless.

Amby & Jo, I envy you that you are in a position to know that there will be a decision to make regarding children later on! I'm still living in quiet hope that one day we might have more, but trying to accept that, as it currently stands, that won't be the case.

Amby I can't believe that Shelbi is already 4mths old! Lovely :)

Jo, Bethany didn't blink an eye for the first 7wks of kindy, then cried every time I took her for the last week :( It sure is hard eh. Apparently she settled as soon as I left though. I'm hoping it was just pure exhaustion and she'll be fine when they start back this year. She has a little friend from church who started at the same time, which I think has made a huge difference to how she's coped with the whole new experience.

Hmm, must go. *hugs* to all. Don't look too closely at the time of this post, I had far too much coke zero today then polished off practically a whole block of chocolate in front of a dvd tonight... for some reason sleep just isn't coming lol.

Hopefully he starts to enjoy it more soon. Do you know how he is when you're not there?

I think next year we'll extend Jody's preschool hours so she's there for 2 hours longer. She's starting to eat less while she's there (I take that as a sign she's not burning her energy so fast in the morning now) and she's not too teary when I pick her up so I think she could go through to 3pm. Going to be 3 very peaceful days in my week!

    Author: jessm
Subject: 20887
Posted: 24 September 2011 at 9:27am

Congrats on Shelbi’s birth Amby! Old news now, but haven’t congratulated you yet…

Chonny, great to hear that Vincent is doing so well at school! You have every right to be a proud mummy.
Shame that Levi didn’t win, TJ, but at least you still know he is the cutest!

Yay for TT success! Can’t remember if I said last time, but Aviva was getting so that she wouldn’t bother going unless I made her, so I’ve stopped saying anything at all (just when she gets wet pants she has to go to the toilet and change them). Takes so much pressure off, and while she still has bad days the last couple of days have been great – and I know that when she finally does decide to go on the toilet all the time, she will be fully TT because I won’t have to tell her at all.

Lydia, I hope everything sorts itself out for you and you get your sticky bub quickly.

I know what you mean Kristy! Its so hard not to imagine what our life will be like in 2… 5… 10 years, but sometimes when we get there and its NOT the way we wanted it, it makes it hard to accept. And the worst thing is, I know that even if I have another one soon and then another long gap, it will still be disappointing because I still picture them close together! And yes, I sometimes find myself feeling grumpy and irritated with Aviva because I haven’t got a brother or sister for her – it is so illogical, because its not her fault! But feelings are strange things… I can imagine its hard to understand until you’ve been there. I am glad that Rosie lives nearby so Aviva can play with Micah and Daniel a lot, so she gets some ‘sibling’ contact time. And there are a couple of new babies in the family on the way, so I shall get lots of baby cuddles soon too.

But even if you have a couple of years break, you could still have a baby or 2 later. Give Mike a bit of time to come around to the idea, and maybe have less pressure on your finances. Meanwhile, appreciate Gods plan for the blessings it brings now!

The most I’ve come up with 3rd b’day plans is that Aviva is big enough to appreciate presents this year, so I shall get her some! (mean mummy, didn’t buy her daughter any 1st b’day ones and only 1 little 2nd b’day present)

And as for kindy, I’m just going to continue with Playcentre at the moment. They made me president at the last AGM, which is a bit scary. That’s what comes of having no-one willing to do it. And it gives me a little bit of income, because I am doing some paid supervision, and I get to take Aviva too so no babysitting costs or anything.

DH has 3wks of uni to go, then 3 exams, then his course is FINISHED. Then onto the job hunt. It is strange to think that in 2-4mths time we could be living anywhere in NZ, and having no idea where. Because we have the freedom to move, it just depends where he can find a job.

Enough rambling from me. The day is too beautiful to be inside!

    Author: kmarie
Subject: 20887
Posted: 10 September 2011 at 10:32pm

TJ sounds like things have calmed down a little since your last post - so glad to hear that! I know what you mean about where have the last three years gone... I still can't figure that out myself! I hope solids go well for Levi and he starts sleeping better for you soon - or a least consistently so you feel less sleep deprived!

Bethany's temp finally came down that week after 3 visits to A&E. Still no idea why, although since then I've noticed she now has all her teeth... so maybe that's all it was. Kaitlyn stayed well from that bug but caught another, as they do! We were actually all well this week, apart from Kaitlyn being a bit fragile after her 15mth imms last week.

After doing so well with TT, Bethany went totally backwards and got terrified of the toilet. It made for a very challenging month of needing mummy's physical and emotional support every time she needed the toilet. I can only assume it was related to a) being worried that a poo might jump back out and eat her (!) or b) once the toilet roll holder fell off under her weight as she got on/off the toilet. It's been a looooong road, but just this morning she finally took herself off to the toilet again (we've reinstated the 'ducky' toilet seat with handles) and she's much happier.

Jess, thanks for reminding me that God's plan really is bigger (not to mention better) than any we could have for ourselves :-) I pray you'll have another little one on the way soon! I've been finding it hard as I would dearly love to have another child, but I've had to come to a place where I accept that Mike is not in a place where he'd like more, and financially we are very tight as it is. I've had a few low moments over it, which feels really awful, because I dearly love my two precious girls and feel so so so blessed that it seems wrong to wish for more, especially when some people can't have any children. I think I just hadn't realised how much I had 'planned' my life without thinking, simply by imagining it with 3-4 children. I feel like I have to undo all my dreams/plans and be happy to stop at two... when I should simply be content and awed that I HAVE two beautiful girls. Sigh, a woman's mind is hard to understand... sometimes I wish I wasn't so complicated lol! Anyone have any idea what I mean? Sorry for the ramble :P

Kaitlyn's chatting heaps and saying/doing new things all the time at the moment which is absolutely gorgeous. I think Bethany is struggling a bit with her sister being in the limelight, I feel like I'm having to constantly be on top of her behaviour at the moment. We've started a chart and she's really responding well - it's become a tangible way to teach her the 'right' thing to do. Kaitlyn of course has to get in on the action too :) Bethany is so protective of her (in the same breath as throwing herself on top of her so they both tumble to the ground :S) and they dote on each other.

Yikes sorry for the mega long post.

Wow Chontelle, I had no idea you were thinking of school next year! Good on you, sounds like a great focus :) I can't believe Vincent is 5 and a schoolboy... and it feels like David isn't far behind!

Amby, Amby, Amby... you amazing woman!!! What a gorgeous new wee bundle you have, and how precious to have two girls - it really is a treat ;-)

Sorry if I missed anyone, hugs to all, sorry it's been so long xx

ETA - so who has 3rd birthday plans on the go already? any ideas??

Edited by kmarie

Levi is around 6.2kgs and not quite 5 months, but he looks smaller than those pics lol
Great birth story too :)
Chonny I am in Wellington and should be around during that time if you want to meet up?
Hope everyone else is good?
Jackson has been at kindy since November last year and is now going two full days a week (8.30-2.30) he loves it and seems much more balanced having that stimulation in his week. We do seem to be picking up all sorts of yucky contagious things like coughs/colds, nits, conjunctivitis- you name it he seems to get it darn it!
Cant believe its almost his birthday! Where did those three years go?
Levi is now almost 5 months so will be starting solids soon :) He managed to sleep for 5 hours last night which was nice as we still havent been having much sleep.
Anyways enough of my blabbing...

Had my show and some period type pains on the mon night. Saw my Dr (who up until then was very unimpressed with me wanting to wait past 41 weeks!) and he asked me if we could induce on Thurs instead. I was delighted.
He did a quick, rough and painful S & S and sent us on our way.
12:30pm, I felt a strong BH, felt a bit different, but nothing to get excited about. Then another 5 mins later, and another. Kept up at 5 mins apart.
Mum was due to go to work at 2pm and I tried telling her to go, baby could still be a long way off and everyone will be home by 5:30pm. She kept fretting so I phoned the hosp just to see when I should go in. The lady said NOW!
Mum looked after Jody while DH and I went in.
By about 1:30 I was at hosp, getting mild contractions that I had started to breath through about 2 - 3 mins apart. MW told us we'll be staying.
Went to a ward room for about 10 mins then the mw told me I should be moved to the labour room.
Had a VE at about 3pm (I think, it's all pretty blurry!) and was 8cm.
Tried to have a shower and just got angry with it, I was shaking through contractions and felt I was losing control.
Lying on the bed, sucking gas and my waters broke at 3:55. There was meconium so had to go on CTG.
At about 4:18pm I told them I needed an epi but they told me baby will be here soon.
At 4:20pm I started pushing. The MWs were great and just let me push without instruction. I got most of the head out when she got stuck in my pelvis so a MW had to pull (blimmin' hard!!) on the baby while I pushed.
Shelbi Anne was born at 4:31pm. We waited for the cord to stop pulsating (not very long at all), the DH cut it. Had the jab for placenta and felt the urge to push that out too, 6 mins after bub.

Bethany's all better now. Did you find out what caused her temp?

Jess, I hope you get your baby soon. I really like your attitude, knowing that it's all part of God's plan. Yes, we're still in Aussie but have booked out tickets home for the start of Nov. Home for good!! Hooray!! It will be hard living on a tight budget again but worth it to be close to friends and family. Especially my best friend, I've missed her so much.

Jo, glad to hear your arm is healing nicely. CUTE about Lewis saying 'digger'! What a boy lol

TJ, sorry to hear about your stressful times, it seems like you're coming out of it now. Good on you and DH for going to counselling.

Jody's TT is the opposite, we get most wees in the toilet (she has just started putting her little seat on the toilet and getting her stepping stool by herself so it's a big novelty) but still not much success with poo. She will tell me her bum or 'baby' (tummy haha) is sore before but we can't quite get the timing right as it could be minutes or hours before poo arrives. She does tell us DURING the poo that she's doing it in her knickers. Oh well, better than painting the walls with it I guess!

Anyway, I was actually off to bed but checked in here to see if there were any posts and got myself side tracked

I will pop in here to announce baby's arrival but I'm sure someone will see it on FB and let everyone know by the time I'm out of hospital

    Author: poohbear
Subject: 20887
Posted: 13 August 2011 at 9:29pm

Yeah people are posting again in here! I miss you guys :p
Jackson has been at kindy quite awhile, since Nov last year? Anyways this term they decided to change the hours so he now goes two days a week from 8.30-2.30 which seemed like a long day but he absolutely loves it!
He is still not toilet trained, we wear pull ups all day and I put him on the potty or toilet regularily, as long as I do he goes on the toilet but if I dont he wont, bit of a pain as I am sure he knows what he is doing he is just a bit lazy, we tried wearing 'big boy' pants but he kept wetting them which drove me up the wall! A little like Aviva he is great with number 2's but not so much with peeing. Guess we will get there in the end
Jess you are so right about God's timing, I honestly thought we would have had Jackson and another baby straight away (like within a few months) but I am so greatful I had the time in between, it is really full on with four kids but especially with Jackson so it has worked out well for us having him at Kindy for a few days as it allows me time to get things done, and occasionally a little rest/quiet time. I know things will work out when the time is right.
I had a stressful few weeks, my milk supply went from over abundant to almost non-existant so I had to breastfeed, double pump with a hospital grade pump and then bottle top up at every feed, all in the school holidays. We also had a lot of stressors with relationship difficulties (DH and I are now going to counseling and things have greatly improved) and financial stressors (we have extended the time on our mortgage to make it a little easier) and my health- I had another MRI the other day, thankfully it was ok, the tumor is still present but they are happy to keep monitoring it, I had a LEEP the other day as I had grade three changes after a colposcopy, ended up on two lots of antibiotics for a supposed infection that had hung around for nearly four months post Levis c-section. A 9 year old birthday party in the middle of it for my DD, so lets just say I am not all that suprised my body said "ENOUGH" and stopped producing enough milk! Levi was waking every two hours and feeding for an hour at a time as he was not getting enough milk, was an absolute nightmare!
He still wakes from 2-4 times a night but he is a lot happier and seems to be putting on weight, all be it sporadically ( one week he gained 330grams the next 40) they continue to watch it and I am continuing to pump for a little longer until his weight is gaining at a steady rate.
Gosh what a novel, anyways you are all filled in on how things are going in our house!
Hope your wee boy arrives soon Amby, pretty exciting stuff! Please let me know when she does as I may not know otherwise! Cheers!

Which is good, but other time I think he's just lazy.

Lewis' first appropriately said word the other day was "digger" which says something about his brothers influence.

Is anyone else stalking the due in August 2011 to see when Amby pops? That’s really interesting about the hormone imbalance, though if they are not getting enough hindmilk, it helps explain all the waking.

Am somewhat pleased to see that others are still having trouble TT! I feel like Aviva has been kind-of TT forever, but she still has days where we go through a hundred pairs of pants! Poos are never a problem, but wees can be a bit more hit and miss. She’s started doing the jiggle / trying to hold on, which makes it easier for me to know when to suggest she goes!! I think sometimes she just gets too busy, and doesn’t think wet pants are such a big deal. I caved and tried bribery, but she is just as likely to say no when I offer her a pineapple lump if she would go toilet. The other day I asked her if she didn’t like them any more, and she said yes, just not today!

FIVE Chonny! Five, I can’t believe all these little kids are growing so big! Especially when the photos on the tickers are just the same as they always were, so they don’t look any bigger (not that I have updated mine!). Glad to hear that you are WARM! Take care of yourself.

Not far to go now Amby! Exciting! Are you still in Aussie?

So very sorry to hear about your loss Lydia.

Glad to hear Ash is sleeping well now. I think if anyone has a right to talk about ‘it will pass,’ its you!!

Kristy, yay for Bethany going toilet by herself! Lots of sickness is no fun. Praying that Bethany is better now.

Fiona, great that Finley is all sorted TT wise. Very sneaky of you!

Hi Sarah! How is Codys exzcema now?

As for us…

Aviva is doing wonderfully at the moment, she is such a darling. I just moved her into a big bed yesterday, that was fun (she had a cot that you could turn into a bed before that, but she’d outgrown it). Had been watching for a bed on TM for a while, eventually found a pair that sounded great, but neglected to ask whether they were from a smokefree house… turns out they weren’t, but after much airing out they are not too bad, and everything else that came with the trade is brilliant. We are loving playcentre, I have my Course 3 and am getting paid for some supervision work which is also nice!

DH has only another couple of months of uni before he is finished, and that is very exciting!! Then on to the job hunt, and who knows where we will end up?

More than 2 years ttc and still no baby, but one of the advantages in knowing that there is a God who cares for me and has promised that ALL thing will work together for GOOD, is that I don’t have to worry about it! When the time is right, it will happen. Meanwhile, we keep trying.

Sorry for the novel. Nice to catch up, will try to do so a little more regularly!!
Author: kmarie
Subject: 20887
Posted: 05 August 2011 at 8:50pm

I tried xmaease with Kaitlyn but I don't recall whether it made much of a difference. (I actually just pulled it out of the cupboard yesterday to try it on myself as I've broken out with eczema on my face, doh.) We tried the cream Chontelle had for David and it worked wonders for Kaitlyn, although it made no diff whatsoever for Bethany. Has your dr given you the usual aqueous cream or equivalent to use in the bath & morning/night? That combined with hydrocortisone was our fall-back with both girls. Not that it was failproof by any means! The Aveeno baby moisturising cream was nice too. I was already off dairy and gluten so diet wasn't really an option with either of my girls' eczema.

Bethany has had 40+degree temps since Sunday, been to a&e 3x this week and it's a mystery but we're still struggling to keep it under control. Day and night she's been miserable & hardly known what to do with herself, just doesn't seem fair. Kaitlyn seems fine (bouncing off the walls and loving not being thwarted by her big sis for a change lol!) so we're praying she stays that way! Hoping we might get some sleep tonight as it's been a looooong week.

ETA - pls excuse the rambles, I'd forgotten what it was like to be this sleep deprived!!

Edited by kmarie

How long does a tin of formula last? (like how long does it take for Cody to drink it)

Haha, yeap, I think this one's going to be massive, over 10lb for sure. It feels much bigger than Jody did. I'm quite nervous about giving birth at the hospital where whatever MW is on will deliver baby. I would feel so much better going through my birth plan with her now rather than at the time! Eeeep!
But my dr has filled out a form for the disabitily (sp?) allowince (sp? haha) from work & imcome for the soy so if it gets approved then I might talk to them about paying for some of the goats formula so we can try out, coz I know my Dr would approve it is well.... esp if soy isnt helping. She just had soy instead of cow's milk, soy yoghurt, goats milk cheese etc. I guess with Cody still being so young it would be even easier since he won't be eating all sorts of food.
Even the wheat free diet was fine and that was for both of us as we were still breast feeding when we cut the wheat.
It was well worth it too to have her soft baby skin back.
We found that the fatty cream made it worse and didn't bother with steroid creams. I have heard great things about Xmaease but never tried it.
Emu oil from Silberhorn worked wonders for my excema, but I'm not sure if it would help if it was caused by a food intolerance.

I hope Cody gets his nice soft baby skin back soon!

Oh! I think it was someone in here that gave me the idea that Jody's excema was a food intolerance rather than just plain old excema and that was because it would come out in sort of circles here and there all over her rather than being in just a few places IYKWIM

Hooray! I hope your (re?)training goes well, it seems like a far off dream to go back to work for me. How is the art going?

Kiwigal, that's so cute, Troublette lol. Good plan to wait until summer to try TT. We were lucky enough to have the warmer weather here for just that little bit longer to get Jody into it. She's back to pooing her knickers but really, it's not much worse to change pooey knickers than a nappy. It is so scary that we are about to have 3 y/o's! Kind of glad that I'll have another baby soon to cuddle.

Kristy, sounds like your girls are going very well. Hopefully they both grow out of any intolerances they have. Jody is fine eating wheat and dairy now but she used to get really bad excema when she was younger. I hope the winter bugs move out asap!

Fi, I like your approach to poo training! May have to do something like for Jody. All that sleeping must be making Lachie grow grow grow! I hope your bugs go away soon too.

Still ticking along here. VERY over being pregnant now. Getting very sore and uncomfortable. It's going to be another big baby too, eek! Fundal height at 34 weeks was measured as 40 weeks which is very scary since Jody measured spot on all the way through and she was a McFatty. I think I may have to make the decision soon about whether to be induced early, wait, or have an elective c-s. Hard one because I know waiting would be best for bubs, but then it took me so long to recover from Jody's birth. Here's hoping baby just decides to come out soon

Great fun! Bethany discovered that the best way to get lots of attention once Kaitlyn took her first steps, was by taking herself to the toilet without any help... yay! Been a challenging couple of months as far as bugs go, we seem to be passing bugs around constantly. I think we've had one full week of no-one sick since May. Ah well, them's the breaks. Oh, and both my girls are currently gluten free, as I was concerned with the frequency and duration of sore tummies with Bethany. Since then, her #2s haven't been difficult for her at all, phew. Kaitlyn still struggles with food like banana, so I haven't dared introduce gluten yet.

Not long now, Amby! I'm a bit worried now, she was a bit worried as I havn't been feeling as sick as I was with the other 2, but hey cant I actualy get over morning sickness like "normal" people. and anyway, all avo I have been sick as so its not really gone away at all. scan is at 12 so hoping and praying that everything is ok. I think I felt bubs move tonight so really hoping it was movement and not wind. lol

TT is pretty much sorted with Brylie. sometimes she will have accidents when shes too busy or having a TANTY. grrr all over the carpet in her room. but not usually.

Elijah is keeping me busy. hes such a little mover. and has discovered that he can move the little chairs to get to places that he wants to climb up on.

lol about the catching up on facebook. I'm a bit of an addict (to say the least) lol.
