I think it was because she had been having huuuuuuge sleeps when she wasn't feeling well and then decided she was feeling great so didn't need a sleep. I eventually lay down with her and she dropped off for ages and I had to wake her to make sure she'd be tired for bed time!

She's back to pretty normal sleeps now, thank god. OMG not feeding that is just the worse. MIL and FIL feed Andrew up on sugar and it annoys the hell out of me. He gets a lollie when he gets there and then another one and another and then, they think that he has to have 2 to get into his car seat. I don't know how many times I have said Andrew and sugar doesn't work - but still they give it to him. I tell them they are feeding his ADAH but still they think it is funny when he is all hyped up. First...how stupid of your Inlaws to not feed Hannah...are they lazy or some thing? Do you have any one else who can look after her while you are at work? Arrggg I have the opposite problem, Zaara's grand parents stuff her with all kinds of food while she is with them..

Man I thought that you must have got all the money back from the friend. I think it is a bit too much ....take them to disputes tribunal (sp??).

And your hubby....hmmmm....dont know what to say but may be have a real serious talk with him and tell him how you feel and that you would like him to take you seriously specially in these kinda matters. Good luck with that!!! You may want to ring WINZ aimee to see if there is anything they can do. maybe nothing, but it would do to help.
if it's any consolation, my nana is the same as your inlaws - she's feed them, but doens;t change the kids. They can be in nappies all day and STINK, but she won't notice.

Right I feel the need to restart this thread...!

Why do the in-laws not feed Hannah lunch when I leave her with them? I have been leaving her with them from 11-12ish a couple of times a week while I go to work. There is a little lunch box full of things and I always get it out and say she will be needing lunch soon. And they wonder why she cries!

But wait theres more... Some of you may remember our "friends" who "borrowed" money off us before Hannah was born, well theres still $1100 to go... Now Daniel hasn't been paid for 7 weeks and we are starting to get poor. He was self-employed but this job came up at a new business which was perfect for Daniel. Well he got paid for the first 5 weeks, then they ran out of money and no work coming in so we havent been paid. He wants to keep sticking it out in case it does all work out. I think it is now at the point of ridiculous and the longer he stays the more they owe us and the less likely it is they will be able to afford to pay us off - getting close to $4000 now. He just makes me sooo mad cos he won't listen to what I'm saying and he is meant to be providing for us, but I am having to do lots of work now too Oh and just to make him seem even more stupid he is working extra (Saturday) and obviously not being paid, then on Sunday he's going racing with money we dont have.

yeah she knew it was only a loan because at the start when I was pregnant we said she couldnt use anything but then lost the babies (she was due the same week) but it was clear we would need it back when we did have a baby. Plus her mum brought us a couple of other things (first grandchild so she was all excited and went shopping when I was like 7 weeks preggie) like a pushchair and bassinet and we gave SIL the pushchair and brought a new one because we thought we would need a double but kept the bassinet in storage because she had one. Ok my turn. Im really annoyed at the moment because my SIL (and I hope she doesnt read this website but anyway) had a baby who is now 10 months and we LENT her our change table. Now Im wanting to get the table back for our baby and first she said she was still using it so I left it for a couple of months and when hubby asked about it the other day she said she might have finished with it in time for us to use it. I admit her mum did buy it but as a gift for us! If we hadnt miscarried our babies would have been the same age as hers so she wouldnt have got to use it anyway. Am I being rude asking for something back before she has finished with it or because her mum brought it does that automatically make it joint property? i need a rant too. yesterday my house was a tip after my having taken mother's day off from housework. just as i turned on the dishwasher and pulled out the vaccuum cleaner at 11am, the power went out. hooray i thought, no cleaning for a while. but the power stayed off until after 8 o clock last night! we went for dinner at my in-laws where everyone told me how "tired" i looked. (i hadn't been brave enough to attempt makeup in the dark!) my mil arranged to pick us up for a class at 10 this morning, so i got up early and ran around getting the house into shape. she's one of those who will offer to 'help' with any little thing she sees is not done, all the while telling me about how she managed a house, a job, and 3 children under 5 when she was my age. anyway, at 20 past 10 she rang to say she's slept in and will be on her way in 15 minutes. class starts at 10.45 and she says she's full of a cold and sore throat too. i said to take the day off and rest, its going to be too late for class and she's just back from overseas so should rest. she gets offended and asks why i dont want her to come, and i tell her i don't want to walk in late and admit that i dont really want to risk her cold. i'm pregnant and running around after a toddler, i could do without us being sick on top of it. i told her i am free all week and would love to see her when she's better but she's still cross with me for not wanting her germs, which makes me cross. i mean, it doesn't seem unreasonable to me? Oh I just had to add my "dropping food on the floor" story to make you feel a bit better!

I made and iced a whole batch of yummy carrot cake muffins with cream cheese icing (yep made it too, time consuming) and decorated them with little carrots made of lollies.. was for someone's birthday.
So as I'm walking out the door, (they were on a cake tray to look nice) I bump the tray and all the muffins fly off onto the concrete! Ok, heres my rant 4 today:

DH loves these ridiculously large home-style bacon burgers and since he works nites I often cookem 4 his breakfast so he has a nice hot meal to come home to. I must also add that they are a total pain in the ar#e to make with cooking the bacon, making all the salad stuff etc - seems to take 4ever just for 1 damn burger (kids fighting & nagging me the whole time... u get the pic).

So thismorn I'd just finished the burger, put it on the plate & then, somehow, knockd it straight off the bench on2 the floor! Profanities followed! What a damn waste of time and effort that was! It took me ages 2 make *grumbles the whole time* another burger + now I had a big mess all over the floor!

Well, good to get that outa my system .

My sympathies for the whole “poo debacle”. I went thru a similar thing last week and I can assure u, its far from funny at 5am when u r in no mood 2 deal with kids anyway – let alone pooey ones (and all the xtra cleaning that goes with it)

Master 4 is normally toilet trained, but must’ve had an upset tummy or something as it was just like water and it was EVERYWHERE! There was poo in the undies, all over the sheets (soaked right thru 2 the mattress of course) , there was 1 big pile of poo (that would rival the biggest cow pat) next 2 the bed and then another big pile over the other side of the room next to the drawers… but wait… it gets better – he’d tried to clean himself up but only succeeded in pulling a whole heap of previously clean clothes out of the drawers and soiling all of them too, and he also used up every wet-wipe in the whole house!

By this stage the poor little bloke must’ve realised his cleaning attempts weren’t working as he hid under the bed – so then we had more poo in the carpet under the bed, all over the underneath of the bed and bedframe etc… I’m sure you can imagine..

Now my boys also share a room and I walked in to find Master 2 sticking his chubby little finger in it (“look! Poo-poo Mummy”!). So, after showering the kids, and begining the 1st of what was to become 5 loads of washing, I tried not to vomit as I spent a good hour cleaning the room (and had to do the carpet twice ) – and it still stank 2 days later!

This has happened before but never to that extent – it honestly looked like a massive waterbomb fight had taken place with huge balloons filled with poo! And if ever happens again in all honesty I will probably cry…

Oh I could go on and on. Like how my FIL didn't say one single word to me on our wedding day- how he got so drunk he had to be carried out and taken home- how he went around to anyone who would listen saying our wedding was a joke and "ass about face" (because we had Charlotte before we got married).
My MIL comes to my house and rewashes my washing. She used to make DH and I sleep in seperate beds (I was pregnant, we were engaged and DH was 25!!!). She thinks all gay people are automatically kiddy fiddlers?????

And I have to spend next weekend with them arghhhh

They're just not very nice people.

My in laws are just plain weird! They have been mortgage and debt free for over 8 years and pulling in at least 6 figures between them- they spend a fortune on their Yacht (yes they have a yacht- a big ass one too) but they live in a house with thread bare carpet- they bought a new $6000 lounge suite but won't sit on it or let anyone else sit on it and a gorgeous outdoor set they keep in the garage and won't use either.
We only ever get given stuff from them by DHs Mum but she makes us keep it secret from her husband.
Like for our wedding present my Dad gave us $2000 for a holiday (he earns less than half they do and has a mortgage) and Mum gave us a new fancy luggage set worth $1000 (ditto the financial situation as Dad) and they gave us $100 cash.
It could be a generation thing but I think its just a weird 'other family' thing. I come from a family who is really generous and gives to lots of charity etc but they never give to anything (they always have excuses like the red cross just rip up clothes into rags if you give them any??? What????!). My MIL is geat, but offers to get things for the kids - then forgets. I wait cause I don't know whether she'll buty it or not, and I know they aren't exactly flush with money, but it's difficult. they offered to buy us a microwave a few months ago - we are still waiting. Good idea Lena...I will tell them that. My mother is the worse one actually....she is a manager at Paper plus and any thing new she gets in her shop ...Zaara has it. Hand puppets, blocks, books....I lost count!!!

Ok my turn, this has been bugging me for ages and I feel awful even saying anything. Hannah is 6 months now and Daniels parents have never bought her ANYTHING. She got a little pram toy thing for Christmas, but it was off Fly Buys and my MIL had knitted her a teddy before she was born. Now I know that MIL was really unwell etc etc, but shes almost 100% now, has been for ages... People keep saying I bet her grandparents spoil her (cos shes the first on that side) and I just have to nod and smile Oh well, silly really but been bugging me. Feel a little better now. We get Panadol on prescription too, we have a huge bottle atm that has lasted ages. Also Brufen, it's good for when thet have persistent fever so I keep that in the fridge too. Hey James' mum I am using the big tub of zinc & castor oil from the Doc too, I pack it on Sams tush - when he lays still enough!!! I have been going 2 months on it and still have heaps left. The Dr said when I look like running out just to ring for another script which makes it really economical.
Somebody said that they also grab a script for pamol each time they go to the Dr? Are we able to get it as well from the Dr rather than the $15 odd dollars I paid for the last bottle?

We've used just about everything - Micreme, Bepanthen (which totally rocks as a tattoo cream!), zinc and castor, and we also used the curash powder as a preventative. The best nappy rash cream I have ever used (and I have tried many! natural, perscribed etc etc) is Johnsons nappy cream in a white tube with a blue cap that you get from the supermarket. Its cheap as and works a treat- I slather it on really thick after each nappy change and only used warm water on a soft cloth to clean rather than wipes as the chemicals can irritate more. Jake gets really bad rash when he is teething. it bleeds and is so sore and nasty. we went to the doctors and they gave him an anti-fungal cream which clears it up really quiclly. Also, we tried Bepth....something with antispetic and that is good too - from New World. The doctor said as horrible it is, make sure the site is super clean as any "leftovers" will feed the rash. Gross.

Poor Marlene - I don't always like the kids - especially at 3am, but always love them. Okay, so here's a rant of a different sort...

Josiah has a bit of an upset tummy at the moment - instead of one dirty nappy a day, we're changing 3 or 4... and even though we're fairly prompt about changing him as soon as we realise, he's now got a burnt bottom, testes and the creases in his legs.

Don't you feel like a really mean mummy when you're wiping their bottoms and they scream? And they scream from the moment the wipe touches them, right through the cream or powder being put on until the clean nappy is done up? I've just changed him... he clung to me and sobbed on my shoulder afterwards

Could you maybe take some of it to a Drycleaner even if you wash it at home and just get it all dried there? Anyway another rant - the poo thing again today. Now its really not funny anymore infact I lost it abit as I tell you there was poo almost everywhere. I made Jaidyn watch me scrub nearly the whole carpet in their room.

Im actually really p**sed about it as have the hugest pile of sh**ty blankets sheets and clothes and crappy weather. Also once again all over their books and some special ones from my mum so not too happy and jaidyn covered Keegan - all over his face yuck.
Im so not enjoying this stage and really need to find away to knock it on the head.
Today is the first time I have felt thatI really dont want to be a mum. Im still really mad about it and dont even want to be near jaidyn

Now you may say but its only poo but I just felt so lost when I found it - the whole not having anyone to help me with these sort of things and help lighten the load and see the funny side of it all - again.

I agree with you there lizzle- I feel just awful if Charlotte is bullying other kids and always try to react quickly so I hate it when other mums just let their kids do nasty things and they basically ignore it. Charlotte always manages to be the one getting picked on and she gets really confused that she gets told off for doing it but other kids just get away with it.
We were at Junglerama a while ago and this kid was laying into Charlotte and the mum sat there going 'ooo fighting' and that was it! She didn't get up or tell her off or anything- I was furious.
Favourite quote- 'the only thing worse than a child who hits is a mother who doesn't do anything about it'.
Hehe so theres my rant to add to the others!

hehe. as for the mums with toddlers, they'll find out soon enough. When it comes down to it, it is THEIR responsibiliy to look after their kid and tehy must realise that at a playgroup there are kids of varying ages. I know that for myself, when Jake and Taine are at playroup, I don't really care if they are pushed over or whatever, what matters is how the parents react. If they say "sorry" or tell the kid off a bit "remember Jake, be gentle with the babies", then I don't care. Oh yeah i have another rant too
Went to playgroup today and there was heaps there.
Anyway dont know what wa up with the boys but they were abit full on and its the first time they have been there. I think cos there were so many kids we didnt have a chance to do any activies.
So anyway they tripped over a couple of babes about 10-12mths old and made them cry and Keegan was trying to cuddle his fave babe (ruby whos nearly 1) but he was abit clumsy knocked her over a couple of times. He mum didnt care as she has a sister the boys age and gets heaps worst but all the other mums were giving me "the look" as if I had demon kids. Anyway we ended up leaving early as it was doing my head in and I felt uncomfortable but i really felt like saying to them oh you wait - your precious wee angel will be a toddler soon enough.
But thing I couldnt get was with the amount of kids running around how many mums left their young babes laying on the ground while they went ad got their coffee etc.

Oh well have to share my bit not too major thou - more you have to laugh or you will scream kind of thing

This morning woke at 6 and alls quite in the room of devious plans so enjoyed my wee lie in until I heard the boys chatting about 7. So I lay there with that big swell in my heart and thought about how much I loved my boys yada yada yada.......then I heard it .....that word.....
POOS!!!
I was outta bed quick smart and what do you know jaidyn had and decided to take his nappy off and climb into his brothers bed and it was everywhere!!! Looks like he used one of his books to clean it up so that went in the bin.
Poor old Keegs has had it rough as Jaidyn did this to him last week too. And with this rain its so hard to get their duvets clean.
On the other side I was in the loo this morn and heard Keegs saying the magic word again (he was doing the nude run) and thought "please not two poo disasters in one morn!"
But no disaster, my wee Keegs had got his dump truck (lol) and had done his business in their.
Quick thinking I say when you cant get to the dunny in time and I would rather clean that than blankets and walls and carpet......

NON BABY PEOPLE MKING BROAD (AND LAUGHABLE) ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT WHEN THEY GET PREGNANT...........

Ok, here goes the conversation that made me want to SMACK my boss in the chops.

her "I'm not going to put on any weight when i get pregnant"

me "its normal to put on about 10 to 13kg or so, its even reccomended"

her "well, if I HAVE to, no more than the minimum.."

me "wait till the cravings..".

her "I won't get them, its all in the mind.."

me "wait till you get the 4am I'm-going-to-die-if-i-don't-get-a-moro-raspmilkshake-dirt-whatever" cravings, they are uncontrollabe"

her "I'll talk my self out of it, it's all in the head"

"becasue people eat dirt and chalk on a whim... they aren't like the i-feel-like-some-chips cravings people get, you know"

I had to walk away. Don't get me weong, she is a good friend of mine, but not at all into kids, only having one becasue hubby really wants one, and plans to be back at work after 6 weeks, and he will be house hubby as he can work from home.
Also, same chick, who thinks mind over matter, is unable to give up smoking... (mind over matter???)
thinks she won't get morning sickness, either...

Poor Kiya! I hope her growth spurt is kind on her. And how scary for you - I remember how guilty and just so sad I felt when we found out about Maya's allergies (runs in my family) I blamed myself so much.

She seems fine this morning... Kiya is about due for a growth spurt, so this may be only the start!

It feels different to a growth spurt. It hurts specifically in the joints - for me, it was my shoulders, hips, knees and ankles. It really feels like you've bruised the bone in some way, yet you haven't done anything out of the ordinary. Beyond regular painkillers, there's unfortunately not much we can do for her. I kinda remember it, and it was not pleasant. It feels like you've bruised the bones in your ankle... painful and itchy at the same time.

Glad she got to sleep finally Becca. Well on the plus side, at least you'll know what she's going through and can be there to help her. You also know that she's going to be fine! (Better than not knowing anyway...)

Thank goodness it only takes a simple blood test to get her diagnosed these days! Okay, so not exactly a rant... but I do need to vent, kinda...

I am sitting at the computer close to tears at the moment because at the other end of the hall is a little girl bawling her eyes out. Kiya has sore ankles/feet, and I think I know why... I've rubbed them a little, and given her some Pamol, now she just needs to get back to sleep.

I have a hereditary blood disorder... Nat and I have suspected for a while that Kiya may have it too. My family found out it when I started geting random joint pain when I was 5 - turns out I was bleeding into my joints. I think that's what is causing Kiya's pain now.
