I found Moby wrap are great help with my reflux babies after they had their feeds esp at nights and you can breastfeeding baby in it

It's only feeding in the evenings that is an issue. We've had an extra complication in that Daniel had heart surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago and I had to express for about 5 days while he was NGed. I think the stress of that has meant my milk is down as well, and my theory is that lower milk plus tiredness plus reflux means a boy who doesn't like feeding at night! I don't mind doing the forumla at night, but would prefer to BF the rest of the time.

He's only been taking the Losec for 3 days, so I'll give him till the middle/end of the week and then go back to the GP - seems like he's on a fairly low dose. In the meantime, I guess we'll battle on I'll keep trying to keep him more upright in the evening. My daughter was breastfed for 9 months and had reflux... hers was treated with Ranitidine, so after the Losec has had plenty of time to kick in, if it's not effective, talk to the Doc about other options too. She stayed on Ranitidine for a few more months after weaning to a formula, too.
It's puzzling that your son is OK taking BM from a bottle, but fusses at the breast... how frustrating! Would it be less stressful to express for a few days and give you both a break from the feeding issues? I know expressing is a pain in the butt and takes so much longer than any other way to feed, but if you're keen on breastfeeding maybe it's the go? Of course, there's the argument that bottle-feeding EBM isn't very sustainable long-term, and is really tough on mum's well-being and time (I agree!), so you might then be tempted to formula-feed... but depending on how you feel about formula, that mightn't be a problem. Feeding issues can really suck as I'm sure you're well-aware, and given there's a medical issue at play here, I'm a fan of making the choices you need to make to try and have a more content baby and mum - whatever works for you two. So here's to finding something that works! When my youngest was 3 weeks old she was diagnosed with silent reflux while we were at the mothercraft unit, so had specialist from the start. They started her on Ranitidine and something else I just cant remember off the top off my head (she is almost 9yrs now!)....I do remember having to give her these about 20mins before her feed. Luckily at that age we were able to use a syringe and give it to her while she was asleep and she'd naturally suck it.
The medication seemed to help a little, but after coming home and still having a baby who cried alot, her dad and I decided at about 7-8 weeks to try her on AR formula. At that time it was quite new. Anyway, she took it and we never looked backed. I remember one time she drank 150ml in one go and we got so excited lol.
It was a very hard decision to stop breasfeeding, but in the end I had to think of the happiness of our baby....and she was definately 100% more happy on the formula.
We didn't have the internet and other forms of support back then, so went with what was available.

I hope you can get help. Give gaviscon before a feed, if u arent already. That made a big difference with Isla. I always bf her with me sitting up and her body on a massive angle,..so like I had a pillow folded in half with her head on it in line with my breast, then the rest of her body was on an angle with her feet down on my lap.

Isla could never lie flat at all. Even on her change table we had a pillow with a towel on so that her upper body lay higher than her lower body, and we had the head end of change table elevated too, same as her cot . Would lie her propped up on a tri pillow on the floor, and she lay on her belly over this for tummy time, never on the flat floor. Her cot is still elevated with big phone books.

Hi all - need some advice. In the evenings, Daniel's reflux seems worst. Whenever I go to lie him down to feed him, he starts screaming and if I do get him to latch, it lasts for 1-2 swallows, then he's off. He's on Gaviscon with each feed, and just started on Losec - I'm giving him the granules on his tongue.

How long does Losec usually take to kick in? Anyone got any tips on trying to feed given that lying down seems to hurt him. I try him lying and feeding cradle hold and rugby hold, I try us both lying down, I try him semi sitting .... The only thing that works is feeding EBM or formula through a bottle.
