We are having a boy this time around, and after a 7 year gap! Hopefully it will all come back anyway..
Glad you found this site, I wish I had the support of somewhere like this when I had my first mc 16 years ago. (omg that long!) I think it really does help to be able to talk to others who have been there.

This afternoon has been a bit better, my partner and I went for a walk and I am feeling okay, I have even managed not to take painkillers since about 10 this morning so hopefully I'm on the mend.

I have been reading so many other's stories on here and my heart is going out to everyone out there who has suffered mc, it is incredible traumatic.

Genie I see you are in Nelson too, it's nice to have a fellow Nelsonian to chat to Have you found out if it's a boy or girl, or are you having a surprise?

Good luck rianna08 for your testing in a few days

Thanks again, Jo

I dont know anything about having an EOU, but when I had my D&C I had bleeding for a week after. It started off heavy the first day after and then went to a light AF for the last 5 - 6 days. I only had mild cramping, nothing like a normal AF kinda pain.
If you are still in pain or concerned you should go back to your Dr for some more investigations or answers.

Good luck hun and let us know how you get on

Its a very hard thing to lose a baby without extra complications and less than decent care. There are a lot of people here who have been through it though, lots of support available.
As far as I know an evacuation of uterus would be the same as D&C. I've had six D&C's and was lucky enough each time to have only period-like cramping after each one, and period-like bleeding as well. I think I would go back to your GP and get checked out again, just in case. I think there would be a wide range of normal, but best to be safe.
I wish there were words to take the hurt and disappointment away, just look after yourself and talk as much as you need to.

    Author: Bunny
Subject: 22494
Posted: 16 November 2008 at 11:28am

Hi everyone,

I am hoping that someone will be able to give me some advice as to what I am experiencing.

On Nov 5th (when I thought I was 11 and 1/2 weeks) I started to bleed at work and was taken to the hospital, I was sent home without a scan because I appeared 'stable'. The next morning my partner and I had to organise an emergency scan, they managed to fit us in and our worst fears were realised when they said the baby had died at eight weeks. We were completely devastated and also very disappointed about the previous night and how they had just left us to fend for ourselves.

We chose to have the operation as it didn't look like I was going to mc naturally anytime soon, that happened last Saturday. Anyway I hardly had any bleeding or pain until Tuesday and I thought I was fine but by Tuesday night I was in a lot of pain and I was bleeding again. We went to my gp on Wed and she said I had an infection and I was put onto two different lots of anti-biotics and told to take it easy. It is now Sunday 8 days after the operation and I am still bleeding and still have pain when I am not taking the painkillers - does anyone know if this is normal?? What I am really worried about is that they may have left something behind when they did my operation - they called it an EOU (evacuation of uterus) is that the same as a D&C??

I hope someone can help, it's been a horrible time, I can't seem to go a single minute without thinking about being pregnant and all sorts of what if's are going thru my head. Sorry I'm rambling.

Thanks all, Jo
