Flattened cardboard boxes, old sheets/fabric, brown paper all make a great painting canvass, strung up to your fence or what have you. Throwing balls covered in paint at the canvas is a hit here! You could also spray paint it with mixed up food colour & water in squirty bottle
Objects in a plastc srew lid jars
Large nuts & bolts
Coloured ice cubes with maybe leaves & flowers inside & watch melt
Washing your car or bike trucks or teddies/babies outside
Playing with basters, squirers in bucket etc

I bought a roll of brown paper, cut some big sheets off it,..made stencils by cutting shapes out of potates and Isla decorated the paper using christmas coloured paints, and did finegr painting and whatever she wanted on it,.. to use as wrapping paper! you can also fill a bucket/container etc with water, give him a paintbrush and let him 'paint' a fence/gate/window outside. Ella loves doing this and it is a lot less messier than normal painting.

Ella also loves 'drawing' with crayons and just got her a cheap $1 colouring in book (bit more interesting than blank paper).

Yep we have a swing set and slide and fish pond (which is safely netted over lol) and he's always outside exploring.

tea party/picnic- we put a baby blanket get our her teddies/iggle piggle etc,..sit them around and make them pretend tea.food ect, see feed them etc.

baking! Isla LOVES breaking the eggs and stiring, and licking the bowl- she calls it 'wolla wolla' for 'round and round' Lol!

making huts. Isla love it when we sit under a blanket, play peek a boo, take turns hiding under it etc, you can drap it over chairs to make tunnels to crawl through etc too.

I'm trying to make a list of activities for toddlers that I can print out and put on the fridge when I'm having a tired day or DH is looking after the boy and can't think of something to do that is different from his everyday stuff.

So far I've got:
- walk to the playground (its 100m down the road)
- painting
- paddling pool
