My friend had a friend who had a baby so she told her daughter that the new baby needed her dummy. Took a few nights but each time she reminded her she had given the dummy to the baby and she was happy with that.

Paige threw hers away when she was about 9months old...it never came back.

My Mum threw my sisters in the fire and said it had gone!!!! thanks for all your suggestions guys! lol caitlyn's mum, i did wonder whether ella would find her thumb to keep the sucking habit but she seems to have taken to sleeping with her mouth wide open instead!
we put her to bed on wednesday and she asked for it, i told her that it was gone, in the rubbish bin because she's a big girl and doesn't need it anymore. off she went to sleep and woke up 20 minutes later for a bit of a yell about it. after resettling though she slept all night and has the last 2 nights as well. naps are another story though.... i'm REALLY hoping this isn't the end of her day sleeps

oh the dummy fairy came to our house,didnt do a very good job tho cos caitlyn found it again 2weeks later, so i took matters into my own hands and whilst distracting her i cut a hole in it *evil laugh*

You could try having a 'Welcome to being a Big Girl' ceremony where you say goodbye to the dummy and bury/throw it? Ummm... Kiya "lost" hers, and I found it under a chair, but I let it stay "lost"... she asked for it a couple of times, but I just told her it was lost and that she was a big girl and didn't need one anymore. When she found it herself a few days later it was all gross. Kiya brought it to me, and told me it was "icky" so I told her to throw it out, and she did! I think Blair was about 18 months when i got rid of his dummy, he started bitting holes init so i thought i would take it of him before i buy him a new one and he was fine.
Not really sure of any advice for you, maybe she will be fine without it and not kick up a fuss at all. Hopefully this is what she will do but if not i guess its just a matter of hanging in there till she forgets about it. my little girl is going to be 2 next month and it is time to get rid of the dummy. she only has it when sleeping so i guess this means a few broken nights ahead as she learns to settle without it.
