Author: KH25
Subject: 24558
Posted: 14 February 2009 at 12:58pm

Sorry if this turns into a long post lol!

After attempting toilet training during the holidays (which wasn't successful) Ashleigh is now absolutely terrified of poos. She had a few accidents on the floor and I think when it dropped to the ground was when it frightened her. She also did it once on the toilet and got splashback and flew into my arms so scared So now when she needs to go there is a big performance and she tries to hold on for a while grabbing her bottom and crying for me and wanting to be comforted. When she finally can't hold it in anymore, she is beside herself until finished and has had a look around to make sure it isn't on the floor (she has a nappy on). Also when I change her nappy, as soon as I have opened it and wiped down with the nappy (like you do at the beginning IYKWIM) she jerks herself away so it doesn't touch her again. I've tried getting her to go on the toilet/potty again but she won't have a bar of it now. So how do I handle it? At the moment I am comforting her is she is just soooo terrified. I praise her, tell her its ok and nothing to be scared of, that it won't hurt her etc. HELP!!!
