I started out doing them separately but it was just too many half-loads of washing!!

Now I bung everything in together, no pre-wash or anything (we use liners too) and it's fine. I am sure it is fine but I just can't bring myself to do them with the clothes, I tried once. I do a separate nappy wash. However it is easier for me to do a nappy wash every 2 days as I know I will have enough to last me. I think it comes down to personal choice. Some people like to do a seperate wash whilst others just throw them all together. If you were going to wash them with your regular clothes I'd suggest putting the nappies on a cold rinse cycle first just to wash out any wee or poo residue, then throw everything else on top with your detergent.
