Mine has said that she'll let me go 10-12 days overdue to trial labour, then if nothing happens, I'm going straight in for a c-section (my first was a failed induction and an awfully uncomfortable experience so I'm quite happy to be told that they'll skip the induction!).

I can't believe I'm saying this but it would be nice to see what labour is all about so I understand your feelings towards the whole scenario. But in the end, for the safety of everyone involved, if a c-section has to be done, then I'll be happy with that.

    Author: toniellis
Subject: 24756
Posted: 24 February 2009 at 9:14pm

Hi Pomikiwi, when I had Blaire I very narrowly missed being induced via Foley's cathetar which I think someone described up the page somewhere (cathetar placed in cervix & blown up etc).
Just before I had my VBA2Cs the OB was VERY determined that if Bubs was overdue then I would be carefully induced & he was pretty bleak in saying that if that happened it was likely I would end up with a c-section.

SO! With that in mind I went down to see my midwife for a stretch & sweep. It didn't go well & she said I wasn't a very good candidate for the S & S so then she did a 1/2 hour session of acupuncture. She also gave me some pressure points to use.
I was also already using 5W, EPO & a homeopathy remedy called Pre-Birth. Midwife recommended another remedy for labour from the same range. I spent all weekend using everything to the maximum doses I was allowed plus some "help" from Hubby..... Went into labour & had Erika on my due date

I was very determined to NOT go overdue, but if I had gone over then I would have stalled my OB on the whole induction issue as everything I have read says that it should be avoided if possible as it is often a reason for c--section & also slightly increases risk of rupture. Best to have plenty of monitoring from your midwife & just let nature take its course with a little natural encouragement.
Best of luck with the VBAC & I really hope it all goes smoothly

It almost seems like they would prefer to c/s you again than induce, given the risks to the scar etc! They were talking at one point about using gel on me, as the safest form of induction for VBAC - if necessary.

Hope you have a safe birth, either way

I dont really want to be as intervention usually leads to another section which is what i'm trying to avoid again. Midwife did an internal this morning and my cervix is still firm, so doesn't look like baby will be arriving any time soon.
I obviously make to much of a good home for my bubbies, hehe!

So just wondered if anyone has had a succesful VBAC after being induced?
