I had the "perfect pregnancy" with Hannah and was going to have a drug-free, water birth etc etc etc. No one could have predicted that things would go so badly so quickly. It was stressful enough to get my head around an emergency c/s, let alone packing a bag and getting to hospital as well.]]>

I've already started to do some research into VBAC birth plans (or should I say - wish lists) and have made a note of everything I want/don't want and made a point of saying "Please make an informed decision with both parents and our MW, don't intervene just because it is hospital protocol"<br /><br />Personally, I would never agree to a home birth as I believe that when things go wrong you need to be in the right place, just my opinion based on what happend last time.<br /><br />But hey, if bubs is in a rush and comes out after a cough and we're at home, well that's fine too <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0"> ]]>

(bitter much? - oops)]]>

My birth was straight forward so I don't know if you'd be in the same situation or if they feel they'd need more monitoring?<br /><br />I really hope you get the chance to try again in the water.     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=10273">Two Blondinis</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 25240<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 16 March 2009 at 10:44am<br /><br />Had a chat with my MW the other day just to see where we both stood on what I hoped for with the birth.<br />I mentioned that I'd like to try a water birth again and she said she didn't think this was possible as I'd need to be monitored all the time.<br />I've read that you can either A: refuse to be monitored as much or B: keep getting in and out of the pool.<br />Both aren't ideal but I wanted to know what others have done in that situation.<br /><br />What monitoring do they do?  Last time my MW checked me lots of times whilst I was in the bath, don't remember if she checked bubs though.<br /><br />I don't want hospital protocol to dictate how I birth my baby (unless for very good reason) so I want as much info as I can to put my case forward.]]>
