Author: Peanut
Subject: 25833
Posted: 14 April 2009 at 6:44pm

I am the Oct mum that littlestar is talking about.

I lost a twin at 7 weeks. I went in to cervical shock meaning that my cervix actually opened and I passed massive clots and lots of bright red blood. My MW was there at the time as I rang her when I first started bleeding and passed clots etc about 30 mins later. We were both positive it was a complete miscarriage so never bothered with a scan. I was talking toher two days later and asked when the MS should go away and thats when we scanned and found the other twin!

In saying all this, it is highly unusual to actually miscarry a twin. Usually a twin will die and be reabsorbed. My MW has been working as a MW for like 15 years and she has never had a patient that has actually miscarry a twin.

I am not saying that to be awful but just so you don't get your hopes up! I know how nerve wracking and stressful it is to wait and the sort of games your mind plays on you.

I also know lots of people that have had mega bleeds (no clots) and wicked cramps and they now have lovely little children.

Good Luck!

Woke up with bleeding on Thursday morning, went to the doctor - my cervix was still closed so all was not lost. Went for a scan and was told everything was where it should be for 5 weeks so will rescan next week.

Went home and about an hour later had crippling cramps and heavy bleeding with clots for about an hour and a half. Felt terrible on Friday, started coming right on Saturday but no longer feel pregnant (no "gentle" cramps, boobs aren't sore etc).

Am definitely not holding onto false hope but seems strange that everything was perfectly fine and then miscarried an hour later, but I have no idea how all this works.

Has anyone had a similar experience with a positive outcome? ie small chance I've lost a twin? I'm fully prepared to have my miscarriage confirmed next week, but was just curious .... :-(

Cheers
