Thanks you guys. I actually feel the same way about having the cot up. It definitley makes it harder. Tonight I went to put her to bed and she pointed at the cot and said 'me some'.

Anyway, the good news is after a terrible naptime earlier today with lots of screaming and me putting her back in bed at least a dozen times, tonight she has gone to sleep in her big bed with only a minimal (2 minute) fuss about it   She is such a legend - honestly I can't believe what a good girl she is. It must be such a hard thing being put into a new situation after 2 whole years of her cot. yeah we found this to be a prob too.

We had that problem, I just took down the cot with him in the room and got rid of it. The first sleep was interesting but he was fine after a couple of sleeps. my boy had day sleeps in the big bed for ages before going in there at night.
it sounds like you might have to stop letting it be a place to play and make it a place to sleep. does it have a side barrier, it might make her feel more secure.

Can anyone give me their hints & tips for moving a toddler from her much loved cot (where she sleeps really well) to a big girls bed.

We have the bed all set up in her room but she still prefers to sleep in her cot. She loves to play on her bed but at bedtime is getting hysterical if you put her there to sleep. Is it just a matter of time and not forcing the issue?

I would love to put her back in her cot indefinitley but unfortunatley we are going to need the cot for No2 in a few months and really want to get her settled in her bed as soon as possible.
