Good question.. on one hand you could put them in with a note that the nappy is no longer available in NZ of purchase and on the other hand if you use it and its your fav but you cant buy it....

So here's a question: since we started setting up the kit there are a couple of nappies we have bought that you can no longer get in NZ (cos the exclusive distributor has stopped bringing them in, or in one case cos the WAHM that was making them decided to stop making nappies for a while at least to spend more time with her family).

How many posts to be a senior member? Is that 100 like being able to look at photos? I think that's a good idea to put some kind of restriction on it as I bet it's going to be really popular and as you say it's for Oh baby members so that's who you want getting it.

I know you said you only wanted nappies that are currently for sale but I have a small old-style USA Fuzzi with contour insert that is in need of a home. Do you want to include it, maybe with a note to say it's no longer available in that particular style? I'd also be happy to donate a Swaddlebee fleece cover, which is gorgeous on nb's, especially over the SB organic velour.

We've got all the nappies together, just organising the logistics of it all (eg how to package/transport them, for instance).

I was wondering about rules for hiring it out - this is supposed to be a hire kit for OHbaby! members, so should people have to be senior members before they're able to hire it? (so people can't sign up just to hire the kit)

Hire kit is almost ready to go, but it's still in two pieces, and we need to put together all the info on each of the nappies etc before we can start hiring it out. We also haven't finalised prices etc yet.

Apart from a couple of OSFA pockets, the sizes are all newborn and small so would possibly be too little for Campbell anyway, whitewave?

Melina, we'd never say no to more nappies, they look great! A mid-range pocket would be very useful to have. I've become a fan of yours on Facebook (my last name sounds like my username on here).

HI, I make pocket nappies and would be interested in donating a couple to a hire kit if you still need some. I also make cloth wipes. You can fine them on facebook if you look up Melina Baby. I make OSFA, and different sized FOE pocket nappies. I am happy to make fitteds also if needed. I LOVE to sew!!!

What's the latest on the hire kit? I'm keen on trying some new night time solutions, such as fitted naps and covers, and was wondering if you were hiring out yet.

Also a good point about selling the KCK nappies - I had assumed that alyxw's Mum had purchased a license but that does entail sending a sample to Kayla in the States so maybe not yet.

alyxw - if your mum is making them from a pattern make sure she is allowed to sell them. some patterns you arent allowed to,its a copyright thing i think.

Hi - great idea! My Mum makes awesome OSFA nappies that are from KCK pattern - the pattern is available on-line. Could give you guys a free sample for each of your kits? Here's another question... I'm assuming we only want nappies that are currently available to purchase (we don't want anyone having the frustration of falling in love with a particular type of nappy only to find you can't get them any more).

However, what about homemade nappies? Good on you girls! It would be great to have a range of nappies by price. I my ecobubs and baby harmony, but can't afford to buy lots of them and in a hire kit, it would be great to be able to try some of the cheaper ones by WAHMs. One of my favourites is a $15 one from a WAHM. Course you would need to test them first to make sure of the quality. This is a fab idea, would the kit include a nappy bucket too? I think hitting up some NZ suppliers for free samples is also a very good idea, laundry powder, tea tree oil, liners, eco wipes etc. We have a net bag thingy that sits inside the nappy bucket for easy transfer to the washing machine.

I like the idea of having one of each different type of MCN - I still dont really know what the difference between all the styles is.

Awesome idea! I agree, all kinds of types and brands included in the hire kit would be great, and including cloth wipes, samples, etc is also a great idea. Just wanted to say what a great idea!! My bubba has just outgrown her NB nappies so I've been buying Medium ones off trademe. I can send you guys her NB Real Nappies if you're interested to put in kits? Have you thought about contacting the various WAHM's who make MCNs for a sample and using that to create a hire kit.  As that's it main purpose to try the different ones to see what suits.

Washing instructions would be a great help, also with regards to drying, stripping etc.

The other hire kits are all a pretty uniform price so I think we'd possibly be constrained by that - they're all approx $40-60 bond, and $8-12 a week hire (usual hire period 8 weeks ish). It'd take us a little while to recoup the cost of the kits (unless OB wanted to help us out!) but after we did we could either donate the difference to charity or work on building a medium hire kit.

The other thing to ask is, what other things would you want to see in the hire kit besides nappies? Sorry to thread jack but did anyone watch the episode of dirty jobs on sky on staurday night? there was an interesting job where they had a nappy cleaning service. People popped out their soiled nappies and once a week they got taken away and news ones were replaces it was quite interesting. I'd like it if it contained all different types of nappies (fitteds, prefolds, pockets etc...?), because honestly, I've no idea about what style I'd like to use and it would be nice to have a good mixture to choose from. (Not every brand of course, but every type).

I have thought about settng one up for hire for girls on here to use as there is alot of talk about them and they do seem so damn good when you first have  ababy to work out what to use, and what suits your baby.
