We saw the dr today and she agree's it definitly sounds like reflux. She also said mixing it with breastmilk is good. Ive been making it more runny so I can suck it up with the syringe and give it to her that way, heaps easier getting it into her tha way.

It's not necessarily a problem - it's just that when they're little you don't want to be giving them much liquid that isn't breast milk/FF cos they only have little tummies and the water/gaviscon can take space they need for milk. Poor Isabella gagged and cried when I gave it to her with the water instead of breastmilk, I used a syringe to give it to her.
Doing it with EBM and making it into a paste was much easier, I just put it on the end of a wee spoon and put as much of it in her mouth as I could then put her straight on the breast as Flissty said to do.

i had to do it with smaller amount because my boy doesnt take a bottle and was unkeen for anything in his mouth. Glad the gaviscon is working.. it didnt for us... I did the breastmilk thing tonight, I did a few drops to start with but it was still all dry and not mixed, so I just squirted serveral drops in and made it to a thickish paste and scooped it up with a spoon and put it in her mouth as much as I could then put her straight on the boob, and it was WAY easier than trying to get 15mls of watery stuff into her.

She is fast asleep now after crying and crying for half the evening, so fingers crossed its the gaviscon helping!

yea we got started out on gaviscon, and just mixed it with a few drops breast milk. Luckily that helped ten fold so had no need for anything more. They'll often do Gaviscon first - it relieves the symptoms.

Omeprazole (Losec) or Ranitidine may be next - that reduces the amount of acid the stomach produces.

Yup, the way Gaviscon works is to thicken the stomach contents - this makes it harder for it to reflux up. Becuase it thickens and binds, it also affects the poos so don't give too much! When we started we did one in the morning and one in the late afternoon to start with ..

I gave her some about an hour ago and did it as per the box(before id seen your post), and I was thinking, shoot thats a lot for a little baby to drink when its not breast milk!
I put her on the boob right after too and she drank away happily, and she is much more settled since having it.

I gave the gaviscon to her with the little syringe you get with infacol, so it took a few times but we got most of it into her, she gagged on the last few squirts

She also didnt spill as much after that feedm and when she did it was thicker, Im guessing this is normal?

I would try it but do it earlier in the day. Make sure she drinks lots (yeah right, like you can tell your 2 month old to drink more!) cos it can block them up.   GPs are pretty to happy to chuck drugs at anything so I doubt they'll tell you not to give it. She 'sounds' refluxy from what you're saying.

Tip: don't do what they say on the box. Im pretty sure Isabella has reflux, she cries whenever you lay her down, and I mean screams like she is in pain, but is fine when she is up right or being rocked, she feeds heaps and frantically looks for my boob all the time, but when she comes off the breast she screams and screams, she spills a lot, she gets hiccups a lot...
I looked on the crying over spilt milk wesbite and all her symptoms point to reflux.

Ive booked her into the Dr for Thursday, but I also went to the chemist and got some Infant Gaviscon, however on the box it says not to give to infants under 1 year unless on Dr advice, but the pharamcist sold it to me...
