OK! Since Becks and I aren't spending much time on OB these days, we've started a group page on Facebook to coordinate it (we chose a group rather than a page, as with a group we can use Facebook's docs features to keep track of things).

We're still in the process of setting up the bookings system and the albums with the nappy details, but go and check it out here:

It's an open group, so you can see the details without having to join it. If your pregnancy isn't yet public knowledge please feel free to send a private message to either group admin and we will add you to the booking doc anonymously.

I'm happy to split too, I'm due 10th Sept and was 11 days late last time so probably don't actually need till Oct, as I've got some leftover disposibles from last time.   

If I added up right there's 23 nappies (plus covers, inserts etc) so about 7-8 each for 3 of us. So we could maybe have each lot for 2-3 weeks and then switch?   How easy and cost effective will it be to post do you think?

But I might let Bex & Chelle go for it..... and hopefully I'll be able to get this bubs into the Pockets I have from DD which fitted her at 3 weeks (was the first time I had tried them, so may have fitted earlier). That is unless we could maybe split it???????

I loved the baby blush.... CJ you might want to try the smaller pockets first (omg I LOVED the bib and tucker) and with the itti tutto take out one of the inserts (I did this with Ollie when he was C size and it fit much better and he never leaked...)

I started Ollie in all of those from just over 4kg and C is over that now. ETA - yes, they do vary and given Miss C is small, I can imagine some (e.g. Baby Blush) might be a bit big on her.

Yup susyl you can have it after Fleur - I will need to grab it in between though to check everything's there and give it all a thorough wash just in case. At the mo she only wants it for a couple of weeks (although she has the option to go for as long as 8 weeks), and then the next person isn't due til May so heaps of time for you to have a play.

Yep whitewave is indeed booked in for the start of September - possibly both the Bex's can have it for a bit after that? The nappy itself only once. But they are already washed before you get them. If you are talking about your own nappies that your are buying I would washing them once before using them and depending on the inserts quite a few times before you use them to get them up to the absorbant level.

Yeah I should have contacted you by now, need to get you to pay in advance and send through your address details. I could actually send it to you now as I'm not using it, but we have one of the new itti bitto tutto OSFM nappies arriving too so will wait til that's here before getting it to you Will PM you now.

Bumpy bump. I haven't had time to update the info document, but I thought I should let you ladies know the current contents of the kit. I've removed a bunch of nappies which are no longer available new in NZ - so that's the swaddlebees AIO and fitted, the GAD pocket, the old style bitti boo fitteds and the kissaluvs fitted.

They have been replaced with:
- a new style bitti boo
- a small-medium baby blush pocket
- a pop in dream dri OSFA
- a gro baby OSFA (now gro via - only difference is the gro via has laundry tabs)

(all available from Tweedle so go to Rachael's website if you want more info on those before I manage to update the info doc)

I got a small bottom bumpers snap AIO too but nobody seems to be selling them currently, but I know Tweedle are considering getting them back in, if they do then the bottom bumpers will find its way into the kit too.

ETA I forgot, there is also now a TotsBots EasyFit OSFA AIO So OSFA nappies are now much better represented in the kit

ETA2 Fleur, the info doc has stockists in it too

Yeah, I reckon cull the nappies that aren't available. I also think it would be worth adding a few of the "cheap" options - such as babyland or something off trademe, and does is have the kind you can get in supermarkets? Or the $20 option from baby factory/farmers?

Just because these nappies seems to have quite a bad rep, but I know quite a few people who say they work great. So it lets you try out the cheaper ones too

I know my baby's a midget, but has anyone had success with a closeparent pop-in on a newborn? Oh Weegee, are you going to be around at christmas? If so then I will drop the kit back around Dec 27/28... bubs will be at least 4 weeks by the time I get the kit anyway so a month is plenty long enough!

Given that most people using it are trying before they buy i would say currently available is probably best...

Its overwhelming the choices available and I think thats the beauty of the kit, you get to try and these wonderful naps then go and buy them...

There's a small Ecobubs wool pocket in there and a Honey Child - haven't got any Nudey!Rudey! or FancyPantz though. Agree - all the brands listed above sound good. I think it would be better to have the most up to date styles in the kit but if the changes to a style are minor then I doubt this would be an issue.

Bump I just wanted to thank the ladies who have had the kit so far (and Becks too) - all the nappies are still in great condition.

I wanted to ask - since the kit was put together there have been a few changes in nappies available. For example, the new style bitti boo fitteds have arrived, and we have two of the old style ones in the kit - do you think it's important that we have new style ones so people are getting an accurate idea of what they're like? There also seem to be a few new 'must try' nappies on the market, such as the Close Parent Pop In nappies or the Gro Baby snap ins, and a few newish NZ made pockets like the Baby Blush or In A Pear Tree (used to be Baby Harmony, for those that remember them).

So do people have any particular styles they think should be in the kit? (Nappy retailers like Rachael, Louise and Julia, feel free to pop your 2c worth in here - what's popular? What would you really like newbie cloth mums to be trying?)

But wanted to say - what a fantastic idea. I might be able to get a trial kit from the waitakere CC - don't live there but have a friend who does - but this is a fantastic alternative for those of us who don't live in one of the bigger/more on-to-it council areas.

Sorry, just saw your post now regarding the sizing for Jaxon! Yes, I agree, he'll probably be too big now. I had hoped that he might have been able to fit into most of them but not anymore! I didn't realise that the NSCC hired out kits - I'll go check that out as they may have larger sizes I could try.

He seems to think the extra washing is where the cost comes in and the time. I figure I'll be washing most days any way so its another thing to add to the load.
I think we will do a mixture of MCNs and sposies, depending on what we're up to.

Sorry Amy I did see your post but forgot to come back to it! Consider yourself pencilled in for at least a couple of weeks in May/June

ETA - are they for Jaxon? Not many of the nappies will fit him by then If it's just to have a play with the different types I'm happy to try to meet up with you to show you the nappies when they're in between people (I work on the Shore) (or I happen to know the North Shore City Council nappy hire kits aren't particularly busy at the mo, for another/sooner option)

omg what a great idea! you guys rock! I've been using prefolds with wraps from day 1 (well day 4 when we came home from hospital heh), but she's starting to get too big! I've got two peapod pockets which I love, and a few other things I got on trademe.... but now I know more what I want I still need to purchase some to trial.

This selection looks fantastic, I'm thinking those snap in ones look like a great idea, DH doesn't like how we have to wash the whole thing with the peapod each time ;-0

I'm gonna miss my nappy stash! Now that she fits, it's awesome! But yeah, before about 3.8kg, it wasn't a heck of a lot of use.
