Author: mum2paris
Subject: 3044
Posted: 17 July 2006 at 4:13pm

Ayja is figuring out the whole cause and effect thing a bit more... she is a crack up cos she now has begun hiding and popping out and doing cheesy grins. she also loves getting praised.. she had been working hard to get shapes out of a fabric shape sorter earlier int he day, but i thought no, not gonna go do it for her. i saw her not too long after with 2 in her hands and i told her well done for getting them out, she looks at them and at me and does this little giggle to herself as if to say "i'm so clever aren't i?"

She is becomming more - "spirited" every day. we went shopping the other night just me and the 2 kids OH MY GOD NEVER AGAIN!!

they were in the same trolley side by side - Paris started bear-hugging ayja - ayja didn't like it so got grumpy and tried to push paris away, i told paris off so she packed a grump, then ayja started reaching up and pulling paris's hair (when she was little in the baby seat next to her it used to be the hood on paris's jacket that she'd go for)anyway chaos ensued, paris grouched, ayja kept pulling her hair - even after i tucked it down the back of paris's jacket - she still started reaching up and pulling paris's hairties out - paris grabs her round the neck and back in another bear hug, but really tight (mums of 2 will know this move - looks like they are hugging but really they are trying to squish/smother) so again i pry them apart and them ayja decide that even though she has no teeth she will lunge and bite paris on the arm.

so embarrasing - when mike came back from dropping off what he had to do - i'm sure he expected to find me half finished.. but nope - only at the milk section of pak,n,save (so about 2 minutes walk if i were childless)

Ayja has also started giving as good as she gets - her new thing is if paris annoys her she will get up on knees as if she's kneeling and just body slam at paris, pulling her hair biting her face and usually reuslting in pushing her over onto the ground where she continues to climb on her and scrag her.

of course all of this involves much screaming and squawking from both of them. I used to pry them apart (stil do in the supermarket) but at home for the most part i monitor it cos usually withing 2 seconds they have resolved it, usually paris realises and remembers that ayja isn't a pushover anymore and decides maybe she better give the toy back or share - crisis averted.

If they are like this now i hate to think of what is to come.

MUMMY IS GOING TO DO IT!!!" we have to keep reminding her that the appropriate response when someone helps you is to say "thank-you!!"

And the not getting dressed.. well paris loves to take her jearsey off all the time - as soon as she gets to daycare its off with the shoes and jearsey - even in winter.. which i woudl say is the reason she gets sick - cos she then forgets to rug up when going outside. so she packs it when i tell her to put her jearsey on. We also have a huge fight if we try and help her put on her undies/pants/socks.. cos she can do those herself pretty much all the time.. and if we try and help boy do we get in trouble!!

Ayja rolls around all the time and we struggle to keep her occupied long enough to get her dressed. I used to say to mike that i think i liked Paris more cos she never learnt to roll - she was a nice baby to dress!

Edited by mum2paris

WE have reverted in the last few days back to our original namby pamby ways of taking time and well, not babying her but ensuring she is supported so that she has confidence to do thing herself and encouraging happy voices not grumpy ones and all that... and it seems to be working but when it's stressful at our house all hell breaks loose.

Hang in there, little girls can be nasty at this age... and i heard that subconsciously they like to try and get mum and dad to fight too as they become closer to their daddy and want more of his attention and realise that mummy gets daddys attention too.. Times when they've lost it and we've tried everything to resolve it, to no avail and wound up losing it a bit ourselves.
My Mum has had me on the phone so many times, doubting my abilities as a mum, and she has always got a story to match whatever trouble has set me off! I think she's the best Mum ever, so those hiccups can't have scarred me too deeply
Mum always says to me, the great thing about little kids, is they have very short memories. Once its over, its over and you can start again with a little more experience under your belt.
You are so cut out to be a Mum. Everything I've read of yours on here tells me how much you love Maya and those little Gremlins of yours, and how much you enjoy being a Mum/Mum to be. Feeling upset about it just goes to show how seriously you take your job.
((hugs))

Which made her scream even louder. Eventually got her showered and into PJ's and put her to bed screaming. Shut the door. She got up and opened it and sat in the doorway screaming some more. Eventually got her calmed down after two hours and retreated to my room for some peace and quiet.

Not even. An hour later she woke up and started at it again, but she couldn't even tell me why she was screaming. She screamed so hard she made herself sick in her bed. Nothing I could do or say could stop her. So she ended up getting a smack. I mean, listening to a baby scream is one thing, but a three year old? She knows plenty of words to TELL me about her problem instead of incessant screaming. I think the smack (which was more like a tap on the leg) gave her a fright coz she settled soooo quickly after that.

And then I went back to my room and rang my Mum and cried for an hour about what a bad mother I am. How am I going to cope with three of them? I am sooo not cut out for being a Mum!

Feel a little better today, I had a talk with Maya about listening to Mummy when she is asked to do things (ie. have a shower) so will see what happens tonight when it's shower time...
