But thats just me and some dont like to chart as its too "planned", others cycles go back to how they were pre MC, so totally up to you.
Sending you big hugs anyway, people just dont get it unless they have been there them selves, and even then not everyone sees things the same way, so just take your friend with a grain of salt, and find someone else to talk to (talking is good!) who thinks more along the lines of you

It doesn't matter that you are not charting (but it might give you some ideas!) and we have all been throught a m/c so we know how you feel. Its a really sad time, so many emotions going on. You didn't do anything wrong, its just one of those things in life.

Dont worry , I told one of the girls I work with when I miscarried and she went on to tell me that she knew how I felt because she terminated a pg when she was 20 or something. cough cough. Ummmm, but I actually wanted this one???

People try to tell you things they think is right and until you have been through it youself, you never really know what that person is going through.

I work full time at the Auckland SPCA.

I found out I was 6 weeks 3 days pregnant a few weeks back and my due date was early September, we had even seen the heartbeat on the monitor when I went for a scan. Five days later I miscarried. Hubby and I had been trying for two years to conceive so as you can imagine, we were pretty depressed about it.

I want to start trying again right now, but know that I shouldn't yet.

I have scrutinized absolutely everything, if I had done things differently, would Prawn still be here, if I had done something, if I hadn't done something.

Worse than the agony of that, is having my best friend - who is not even thinking about trying to have kids yet, only that she does want them at some point - reading up on miscarriage and talking to me about it, giving me advice. She's offered to be a surrogate after she's had her four kids. And has told me that she knows how I feel as she once had a late period and thought she could be pregnant and was sad when she got her period two days later. Grrr.

Edited by kelzie_rose

That is crap, and I dont like your MW. Tell them you need to know if the pregnancy is viable, if it hasnt grown then unfortunately it doesnt look good and you can prepare yourself for it, if it has you can actually stop worrying about it!!! GRRR Give me her number and I will have a go at her for you!! Call another MW and see if they are more understanding.
Sorry, I just think if it was me I wouldnt be doing HCGs, I would be going for scans, and I would be kicking up a big stink. But that is just me and you gotta do what you gotta do.
xoxoxoxox Big hugs!!

Sorry that sounds really harsh.. I guess I just wish I could do something to help...

Edited by Emmi_

    Author: pikaboo
Subject: 30444
Posted: 13 December 2009 at 10:47pm

Hi Azza just wanted to say I am in a similar boat to you....my wee girl looks around the same age as your lovely Isabella, and we have had one m/c (in Aug 09). I have had 5 cycles since, and all were only 23 days (28 days is normal for me), so I don't think I have a long enough luteal phase to produce enough progesterone to support preg as I usually ov day 14/15 and I am learning you need at least 10 days between ov and af.
I know I have dodgy progesterone as I have endometriosis which is a "low-progesterone" condition, so my awesome gp (a man!) agreed to test my levels 7dpo. I went into his office ready to campaign that yes, m/c could be due to any number of factors, but seeing as we already know I have endo, could we do a 'day 21' blood test to see if that might be a problem....anyway, he agreed immediately and I didn't end up having to do the hard sell on him....I hope you have or find a nice gp who will do something similar for you, based on you verbally telling them you have had low prog results in the past.
Like you I am thinking that if I do get a bfp then I want to go in and demand progesterone pessaries too! A friend of mine who is on her umpteenth cycle of ivf is on them until week 16, not because she has low progesterone levels, but just as extra insurance to promote lots of 'lush lining' for implantation etc. Interesting eh.
My fingers are x'd for you....I am also not enjoying ttc and have to snap myself out of "next time" thoughts too.
Tomorrow I am going to a naturopath to see if I am lacking something or really just to feel like I am doing something as my hormones/periods/emotions still feel totally outta whack...I will keep watching to see what your gp says and if those hpts turn +ve.

Surely if you make enough of a fuss they would give them to you just to keep you quiet...
I am one of the lucky ones who went on to have a healthy little bub, and I do hope that you will get your BFP soon.
Just remember, there are always folk on this forum you can rant to about how you are feeling, as you will have days ahead where you think you are just going barmy.

I would probably get your doctor to do as many tests as they possibly can. I would definately suss out the progesterone thing as I know it's something that can be easily fixed. I referred myself to a fertility specialist when I had my second miscarriage as I wanted to make sure there wasn't somthing wrong. The doctors here are bl...dy hopeless where I live so I didn't want to risk another pregancy going down the tubes if there was something within my control to fix it.
That's the thing though, the whole ttc thing is mostly out of our control. We can BD on days we think we are near ovulation but never guarantees a baby.
I'm assuming this is your first m/c, plenty of woman go on to have healthy pregnancies, so hoping this is the case for you and you get a sticky baby.
Best wishes for a quick BFP and a sticky one. As far as staying sane hmmmm not sure on that one.

With the blood tests for progesterone, yes 7dpo is the day 21 bloods and your gp should be able to give you the forms for these. If you feel your gp is not taking you seriously then I would definately change and try and find a supportive gp.

Also if you can get your medical records from SA then that might help, not sure but it can't hurt. You could self refer to a fertility specialist but unfortunately as far as Im aware they still won't investigate until you have had 3 m/c's, I was fortunate I guess (or not) to already be under the specialist due my age and length of time ttc'in. Once I get pregnant again Fertility Associates will monitor me quiet closely and do weekly bloods to monitor my progesterone, and I think I will also have quiet regular scans to try and keep an eye on things.

Azza I really really hope that this was a once off for you and that your next pregnancy will be a sticky one.

Also I guess ring Medlab and ask whether you can get tests done for yourself. No doubt if you can they would cost you, but not sure how much.

Goodluck with your ttc journey

How good is your GP? Could you voice your concerns to them? They might be willing to do BTs to check your progesterone and HCG once a cycle at 12DPO (to check if your PG and if your progesterone is ok) or something? The CD21 test is the one you do at 7DPO (but not sure if HCG would show up that early? (my HCG at 16 DPO (and 6 days past implantation) was only 80, so much earlier than that and it wouldnt have shown up?))
Hmm I hope all that makes sense? I think having a good GP is definately the first step...
