Freezes well (I make them in the foil pie dishes, nice and easy). Oh, I usually put grated cheese in too, not too much though, just under the top crust.

Spoon over the first layer of pastry, top with final layer of pastry and brush egg on top.

Bake on 180 for approx 45 mins (or just when pies brown).

Really yummy, and excellent next day. I always double recipe for two pies as these go down really well in our house.

Edited by TaraandPhoenix

Last night I made the family chicken pie in there. But instead of the bacon I put in a medium chopped up and cooked carrot and the same with a kumara. It was devine.

Bacon and egg pie is the best. For mine I just use an oven dish. Layer of pastry on the bottom, sprinkle over half a chopped up onion about 4 rashes of bacon chopped, salt and pepper bit of galic salt and crack about 6 eggs over the top burst there yolks sprinkle over some grated cheese top layer of pastry and chuck it in the oven.

I need a good steak pie reciepe too.
