I know how you feel Kelzie. We were supposed to welcome our angel at Christmas time, my family had flights booked from Aussie to visit and enjoy what was supposed to be a wonderful festive season with their first grandchild. Needless to say it didn't feel much like Christmas...

Sorry to hear that KM - Know what you mean though after my D&C everyone said that because they clear out everything, it makes you super fertile -so I too got my hopes up but with no results
FX for the scan - I am hoping to get DP to get his swimmers tested next week, so we can start with FA, I am starting to feel the pressure of age!!
FX Atiamuri!! I am 11DPO today but like you I don't think that I am PG - Probably because I wasn't sure I OV'd even tough FF thinks I have.

Here's to a fresh start in 2011...

I thought I'd join in here too ... we are ttc #1 after protracted recovery after missed miscarriage at 13 weeks... 2 doses of misoprostol failed and ended up with d and c after 3 months then hysteroscopy after another 3 months for what still looked like retained products on uss. Needless to say a traumatic time has been amplified!
I just had the good news today that hysteroscopy was normal so fingers crosed for a bfp in a couple of days...

Happy New year everyone.
I just thought Id pop in and say hi as we are ttc#2 after mc. DS is 18 months, I mc labour weekend at 10 weeks, and am now ttc again. We also have male factor fertility issues so for me ttc means lots of blood tests and a turkey baster!
My levels took a while to get back to 0 but that was all the clinic was worried about, then my next cycle clashed with Xmas break so now I am just waiting for Day 1 so we can start all over again. We have been trying the old fashioned way but there isnt alot of chance of that working, I did get my hopes up when AF was 5 days late last cycle, but that was just the Old B*$%h being just that!!
I hope that I am not in this thread for long, Hope none of us are. Mae I know it does suck that you have to go through 3 before they will help you. But I'm not to upset about that really as it did give me a chance to try to sort things out the "natural" way first so I know with this last pregnancy I have done absoulutely everything I possibly can naturally and so now am ready to try the "real" drugs.

Thanks girls, DP and I are both just really gutted right now, have done so much work with my naturopath & acupuncturist I was really hoping things would of been different this time. Well not good news from me either, had an urge to move my scan from Wednesday to today and bubs is not alive. I was instructed to take it asap so was taking it all the time and would have been taking it when we conceived and the 2WW. I've heard so many positive things about asprin, I was thinking of seeing my doctor next week to see if he thinks it could be benificial for me. Have you been instructed to take it for the whole time or just the first 12 weeks ? (Did you take it during the 2WW?)

Hi all :)

I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing.

Just to confirm everyone's thoughts... Pregnancy is a very worrying time after mc's. I'm nearly 17 weeks and admit that the weeks after the 12 week scan have been less worrysome but I still can't really believe it's real.

I also believe in doing what you feel is the right time to start trying again. I mc'd for the 3rd time in June and was preg in August with this one. Took Provera and aspirin as a suggestion from FA but I really think that it has done something :) I still think about my little angels, but not as much as before.

I love this - very true! I know it'll be a bit stressful, but at the same time, a positive focus would be good for me.

Like everyone else in here, life is going to have stresses anyway, and after having a miscarriage, pregnancy is never going to be stress free anyway unfortunately.

I was the same as Kelzie - some people thought we were nuts to start again straight away but it was the right decision for us, and we haven't regretted it.
There could still be some emotions to come out - there have been for me, but I have dealt with these as they have come up, but they haven't been enough for me not to be sure about TTC.

Karen, I didn't waste any time trying after my first m/c, got AF relatively soon afterwards. But still haven't got AF since m/c in Sept or Oct (the last few months have been a bit too much and I have no idea when anything happened!) but I agree with didi, the second pregnancy was riddled with worry.

Thanks ladies for your advice.... my dr just said wait a month so things settle down and you know where you're at, and then start again. She also gave me a referral for a pelvic scan as she thinks I may have fibroids. That will be done in the new year...

*Waves to my buddies in here* (and a big high 5 for Didi!!)

I haven't been in here before, but here I am and looking forward to trying again! It's been a long tough road since my miscarriage in march, but since my due date has been and gone, I feel much better!

Dp and I are going to start trying at Christmas (eeek). It's taken a lot of convincing him as he wanted to wait, but he's finally on board with a vengeance.

However, the baby making plans may not go to plan....

We had some sad/ scary news the other day. Dp has Colitis/Chrons and had some tests done and things aren't looking too good, they mentioned the dreaded 'C' word potentially, and have said they want to remove his colon. We're waiting on biopsy results, and have an appointment a week from today to find out more. I just hope it's not as bad as they first thought. He's such a strong person and doing really well at the moment. I think it's made him think about what's really important, and same for me.

Lots of baby dust to everyone who needs it xxx

Hey KM, welcome, like the others said I think most of the delay recommended is around waiting for the emotional side. My MC was at 6w3d and ended with a D&C as it was a missed MC.
The lady at the hospital said it was fine to start straight away as long as I was emotionally up for it.
We did pretty much start straight away - but did have a major relapse at 3 months with many a tear -which I have since found is quite common.
So make sure you look after yourself and as the other say be ready for th eemotions.

I've had a few m/c, two were around 7 weeks and I had an early one around 5 weeks. I think they tell you to wait a cycle but when you m/c early I think its fine to jump straight back on the band wagon. If the bleeding has stopped you should go on to have a nice normal cycle. Hi Karen, really sorry to see you in here.
As long as you have stopped bleeding really there is nothing to stop you from trying again. I think the Miscarriage Support website www.miscarriagesupport.org.nz says to wait 3 months but really I think that is for emotional reasons. Do remember when you are next UTD, it will be alot harder emotionally, so do make sure you have dealt with everything before TTC again. I think that is all the advice I have I really hope you get a nice sticky BFP soon.

Mae I know bring back the 1920's I say!! Work is pretty busy at the moment and not being a martyr (sp?) they really can't do without me. But not long to go and I have 2.5 glorious weeks off am so looking forward to it 2.5weeks of sleep mmmmm . (well that's my plan anyway)

Hi ladies,

Unfortunately I'm going to join you on this thread - I lost my pregnancy on Friday....

It was an early loss at 4wks 3 days, and happened naturally and my hcg is now less than 1.

I was wondering how long did everyone wait before TTC again???

My bleeding has stopped now, so thought since it all happened naturally I might jump straight back on the bandwagon, but have heard that it might be best to wait a while, but unsure if that is for people who lost their pregnancy at a later stage...

Thanks Girls, I honestly feel like I'm going nuts at times. Am seeing my MW next Wednesday so will ask her about getting another scan, I would really like one around the 10 week mark as with my missed MC they said bubs stopped developing around 9weeks so would be nice to know if I have made it past that milestone.

Oh man thats just not fair!! Do you have another scan before the 12weeks?
I still firmly have my FX for you, and am sure that as you say you have been bleeding before the scan and after, and all was fine with that little heart beat so I am sure all is fine
Next time round I think I will be celebrating morning sickness, as I knew it was over when I stopped feeling it.

Yeah I'm OK just started bleeding again, after 4 days without it in which time I was finally starting to feel confident about this pregnancy. But I have been spotting now for 3.5weeks so really you would think I would be used to it by now. I am still feeling rotten MS wise and the scan 1.5weeks ago was OK so no reason to think anything has changed. Thanks monkeys was feeling so bad on Sat, I think I puked 3 or 4 times, but your right it does kind of make you feel positive about the pregnancy. Had 4 spotting free days last week and started to get a bit excited and TBH I think a bit too confident, which all got buggered up on Sat night when I had another big red gush. Hi ladies, just popping in to say my IVF egg collection was this morning and we anticipated 4 eggs as I only had 4 follies - WELL surprise surprise a few others were hiding - we got SIX EGGS!

So fingers x'd that at least half will fertilise in the next 24 hours! Then I can hopefully have a fresh transfer on Day 3 (Sat) or Day 5 (Mon) and freeze any others 'just in case'.

Feeling pretty chuffed . The whole process hasn't been as hard as I thought with the drugs etc, but it's when it comes to getting scans etc and seeing a low amount of follies that starts up the panic attacks. The whole process of egg collection was easy peasy, in honesty I would say that a smear is the worse thing I have had (when I think back to the 'old days' of the big open-wide speculums!!!), then IUI's, then IVF! I am extremely tired so am spending the rest of the day on the couch in front of the TV. Have had McD's for lunch nom nom nom. Getting a few cramps but am on good pain relief.

Didi I hope you are all good?

Spanky, not the best of news, BUT I am a firm believer that something positive always comes out of these things that are sent to try us, there are other options for you later down the track when you are ready, and don't ever forget that miracles DO happen - I really have my fingers crossed for you.

I'm doing OK thanks monkeys had no spotting at all yesterday which was the first time in almost 3 weeks, so uber excited about that.
Also my naturopath and acupuncturist have done a fantastic job of keeping me thinking positive. Went to see a lady who does Psych-K last week as well, and I think that helped a bit with positive thinking etc. I went to her a few months ago as well as I had read that some of the immune issues that cause MC (which is the cause of mine) have alot to do with subconcious beliefs and/or fears which cause your body to reject the pregnancy through your immune system. OK I'm definitely out of here, ttc is NOT part of the plan right now.

Its not a deletion issue, its a balanced translocation (17 and 22). We see the recurrent mc guy next week for further info.
The info dp got from his gp today is that if a pregnancy gets through the 1st trimester without miscarrying, there's a 15% chance of there being abnormalities with our little one.
Info people - not ditching them right now, need all the help I can get.
Future looks uncertain, I think there will be genetic counselling soon, and prenatal testing etc is apparently recommended next time I get up the duff.

Put it this way, I'm off the folic acid for the next few cycles till I get my head round this a bit more

PS Didi, he seems fine, don't know if he's just being strong for me, cos I'm being enough of a mess for both of us . . . he's not really said much, but he's usually pretty open about most things. He has a 'what will be, will be' kinda outlook usually

The scan went OK, has put me back 5 days so only 6w1d but there was a heartbeat which was a relief (when she finally found it). Also there is a dark spot under the pregnancy sack that she said is probably where the bleeding has been coming from.

My Osteo was doing IVF (havnen't been to her for a while so not sure how she is going) and it didn't sound too bad although she did have a bad reaction to the drugs that make you ov so had to have a break to give her bod a chance to recover.
Sometimes it is hard to join in an already established group like that but I'm sure you will start to feel like you belong soon. In the meantime you can always talk to us although my IVF knowledge is not great.

Thanks Didi - it's not as scary as everyone makes out but the drugs do kick you round. This is my first time ever IVF and unfortunately I don't have anyone to talk to who has been through it - two family members have done it but we aren't telling any of them that we are doing it as we get sick of the 3rd Degree with everything we do. I have been trying to chat in the IVF forum on here but I feel like a bit of an outsider. Not long to go now, fingers x'd it works, esp as our original specialist didn't think that it was any different for us to try this in preference to more IUI's cause in his opinion the 'outcome' wouldn't be any different. Hi Ladies, been trying to stay away from here as thinking about it less helps the time go faster plus I feel like I'm a bit of a downer compared to all the excited ladies on my due in thread.

Monkeys I used to have quite clotty AF but whatever my naturopath had me on stopped them from being clotty and generally made them lighter and shorter. My naturopath was happy with that never really asked why clotty, heavy and long was bad though, so can't really give you any more insight than that.

Spanky I agree, if that is the cause of your MC's you are so long overdue for a nice healthy one. How is your DP feeling about the result? I remember when I tested positive for the ANA's I was kind of glad I had a reason and something to "fix" but also really upset that it was my body that was doing this.

Bobsta, I'm pleased to hear you are talking and thinking about the future again. 2011 is so going to be your year hun.

Mae I am really hoping this round of IVF is it for you, you do so deserve it.

AFM well I get excited when I have days with no spotting but so far it always seems to sart up again.
My HCG's are still rising although they are starting to slow down from what I've read from 5 weeks they do normally start to slow down so FX that is fine. I have a form for an early scan but am going to try to hold off till I'm closer to the 7week mark as I don't want to go to early to see a heartbeat and panic myself. So that is me at the moment, definately not over but I'm still a long way from feeling confident yet.

Spanky - in a few words - THEY SUCK. Can you go elsewhere and get a more sensitive informative specialist???

Bobsta have a break hun, start again fresh in the New Year. We COMPLETELY gave up from April through to October , then 'things' just happened that made us want to try again after all, so in October we paid for private IVF (went to a different specialist who 100% agreed we can/should do it!) and I am in the middle of it all now - I am so much more mentally prepared after some time out, so no matter what road you go down to get pregnant again, definitely have a month or two of not thinking about TTC, that's my best advice xxx .

Didi, how are you doing???

Monkeys - IMO it won't hurt for you to take a low dose aspirin (no more than 100mgs - Cardioprin is great and very cheap) for a cycle or two to see if that helps with clotting. If you are with a specialist at present (sorry I don't know your history) then ask them as well, but low-dose aspirin should be ample to help any clotting IF that is the problem. Keep a track of what happens on the next cycle with or without it, and when you have something to show your specialist or doctor with the differences then do so - it might take a cycle or two to make a difference but you should notice something fairly soon. But just double-check with your doc if you are already on any other meds to make sure the aspirin won't interfere.

Hey guys, yeah I'm still spewing at the questions thing myself, believe I've been ranting to all who will listen (semi-relevantly) not least the nurse I've been liaising with to try and get my blood results (2 weeks on).

Found out today from the nurse that DP has some sort of deletion thingy on the 22nd chromosome from his karyotyping, it was just a quick phone call so no details . . we are seeing the doc on 9th Dec to find out more. Naturally I have consulted google straightaway, there's a 50/50 chance of passing on the 22qdeletion thingy on to a baba - if its that we're dealing with, after 3 mc's surely I'm due a noncarrier?
But development wise, it seems quite serious, heart defects, facial stuff, cleft palate . . .

Phoned the naturopath this morning and booked in a consult (before we got the karyotype results back), but I figure its best to get my body in best condition before trying again, for I know we could be looking at issues with both of us anyway.

Sorry, this is long and very 'me' . . . kinda glad to get SOME kind of reason for this, in an odd way I'm slightly relieved its both of our issues rather than my body 'letting us down'

We're going camping tomorrow, another holiday, with tense and stressy news right beforehand AGAIN (Raro in August - preggy symptoms disappeared 3 days before we went).
The good news is I'M NOT BLEEDING for the camping, whoop whoop!

Monkeys, I don't know the answer to your clotty stuff . . . I remember reading somewhere that af clots wasn't normal. Its common enought though . . . I always thought it was. Don't know about LDA, are you seeing a doc/GP soon, might be worth checking out before going on that?
Bobsta, yeah would be much more reassuring to have the constant monitoring, I'm thinking, through FA.

Spanky, wow. I'm like Didi and can't believe you weren't allowed to ask questions at your appointment! It's good they're doing the Karyotype testing though. It must have been gutting that you couldn't end up taking that booking for your hysto thingy. As far as what causes hormone imbalances? Your guess is as good as mine. I personally think some people are just for predisposed to some things so it's really out of our control. It's all about management of it once you know there's a problem. When we are going to TTC again, I'm going down the FA route and plan to see a spec before, during and after TTC. That way everything is monitored medically. Hopefully that gives me the best chance to keep the next one.

Glad your cycyles are back on track Spanky, so sorry you have to play the waiting game I know how hard that is when you just want to get back to it. Progesterone is one of the main hormones that help's to sustain a pregnancy so if that's unstable then I guess that means unstable pregnancy.
I can't believe you weren't able to ask any questions at your appointment, I would of been soooooo mad. I would definately go see a naturopath as well, I do think the convestional and natural can work really well together plus as ou said if ou are holding off TTC anyway you may as well do as much as you can in that time to get yourself into the best possible place.

AFM, well I've been spotting on and off for the last 4 days now which has been very scary, hasn't gotten worse like it did last time so FX this is different. My naturopath has done a great job at reasurring me and helping to stop me from stressing too much. How are you guys doing today?

AFM, yeah, went to mc clinic last week . . . still have 3 pages of questions as wasn’t allowed to ask ANYTHING, feckers.
Got bloods done to (hopefully) check for autoimmune and clotting stuff (now I’m thinking I should have read up and known specifically which tests to ask for . . . ) and they did karyotyping for me and DP (its only a basic chromosome check though, apparently, not like full genetic testing)
Also am on a waiting list for a hysteroscopy – in the next 6 months apparently. Am gutted as 3 days after the appt a nurse rang me as they’d had a cancellation and I could have had it done last week, but it’s the worst time (work is currently moving premises = chaos, going away next week for 10 days, scheduled dental work, ridiculously busy at work with orders) so said no.
So, as expected, I’m advised not ttc (up to 6 months) - gutted. Just don’t fecking need that. Seriously considering the naturopath now too, if I’m not ttc anyway, perfect time. Seemed to work for you, didi! The unstable progesterone you mentioned sounds like my thing too . . . I want to know what causes it (egg quality? Oestrogen dominance? Something else). Internet not helpful with this. Did you ever find out?

Back on normal cycles now it seems (with the luteal spotting for 10 days) USS shows clear normal uterus, Hcg less than 1, so mc is officially over, and so’s my first proper cycle (af today . . . sad about all of it), and about the Christmas I’m facing that should have been our first proper family Christmas.
Roll on 2011, I’m over the silly season already
