I made some with PUL and microfleece. I had a few goes to get the right size for me, but got there in the end and refined it to an art-form.

I found the best was to make them into a pocket (a lot like pocket nappies) so i could regulate absorbancy (put extra layers of microfibre in) and also got them washed much better as i took out the inner and put them into a wash bag to wash which got them much cleaner than if it was all sewn up.

Microfibre is the white fabric that alot of inserts are made out of. thanks Stacey. Is microfibre what the basic cloth nappies are made out of? Pretty sure the machine my mum has, has an overlocker function on it.

You need to have an absorbent layer of something between the pul and the microfleece like bamboo, hemp or microfibre etc. I find microfibre the best as its fast absorbing which is good for let down. I have got some leftover PUL and microfleece so am thinking of making some cloth breastpads, but a little unsure where to start.

Do I need to use any other materials or is one layer of PUL and one of Microfleece enough?

I have got a couple of left over cloth pads from last time, so I am guessing that I can use that size and sew the 2 layers together???

 

any other tips?
