True, I only thought abut the old flannel flats. I don't even have a baby but have had a lot of experience with MCN's recently with my friend!

I was going to post the link to that thread, but the pic and link I posted was to the snazzipants website anyway so you've already seen it now

summerlamb - snappis don't work with flannel flats (eg the ones with the red stripe) but they do work with terry flats (the ones more like towelling material)

You can buy them at baby factory, but I could never get them to work with my flats! Couldn't get the little claws into the fabric. A snappi is used instead of pins, it's way easier. The prefold is wrapped around the baby and snappied into place, rather than just being folded into 3 and laid in the cover. It makes it much better for catching everything, and keeps the liner cleaner too.

We used hosp nappies for the first day and that took care of all the meconium. But working with animals I often get meconium all over my clothes picking up newborn lambs and calves. I don't wear my best clothes, but it washes off after a couple of washes.

For the first few weeks Jody didn't have the bottom to hold onto her pocket nappies so we used flats. Had no problems with them. Personally I wouldn't use any 'good' MCNs in the first few days. Where are you? I had DS at Waitakere hospital and used their cloth nappies there. Then when we transferred to our local birthing unit we used their nappies. By the time we came home we had normal NB poo. My nappies are all fine. So to follow on from my last question regarding the use of cloth nappies from birth...for those of you who did, how did you deal with the meconium?

I asked my MW this morning and she told me that it gets through nappy liners, and can completely ruin cloth nappies :-(
