I'm new to cloth, I soak everything in Nappysan (the baby one) and then wash them in the machine with down to earth or persil. I like Persil sensitive and Nappy Fresh.    In answer to NatsCats, wash your PUL covers just with your clothes - they don't need extra washing and you dont have to sanitise them like you do your nappies. I have been wondering about this as well...I have a wet bucket which I soak my flat nappies in napisan and because quite frankly I don't want twenty million buckets cluttering up the room, I have been putting my pul nappies in there along with my inserts. I had a feeling I was not supposed to be soaking the pul so try to keep it above the water level, as for the inserts I didn't have a clue but have been putting in the bucket but not squishing into the water and I noticed the last load I did that one of the inserts was stained so wish I HAD soaked it properly.
So what is the go?? Should I soak the inserts with my flats and then put the pul outers into a dry bucket.....btw will be washing every night anyway so not like gonna be super soaking and if the pul is not IN the water will it matter?

We use Ecostore and have for ages. I wash my DD and hubbys merino clothing in the powder and have never had any issues with it eating the wool and I wash her ecobubs nappies in it too and have no problems.We also use the Ecostore Laundry Liquid and have had no probs either.

Apparently the vinegar dissolves the pul coating in the nappies.

And don't soak the outers in anything. Just rinse(if necessary) and dry pail till washing day

Basicly, look for an enzyme free laundry powder.

Now I know lots of people ask all the time about the different powders. But I can't seem to work out what and what NOT to use.

So far off my head I've heard that
Ecostore eats the wool off ecobubs pockets
Persil sensitive isn't that great either
Any thing soap based will wreck them. How will I know that, is it just on the packets?? The soap content.
Don't use a mix of baking soda and white vinegar?
Lux flakes and wool wash are a no no.
Is straight Napisan ok?
What about laundry liquids??

I've been making my own washing gunge (Babe's receipe but instead of borax I used baking soda) I haven't used it on my nappies yet but so far on the other laundry items it's worked quite well.
