Thanks Weegee, you're right though – a lot of the online reviews are saying the same thing about these liners. After you told me about them, I did however find these ones which seem to have better reviews so I'm going to give them a go. Thanks for the heads up!

I don't use liners either (although they do at daycare cos it means they don't need to rinse the nappies) BUT I wanted to say some flushable liners are ok for use in septic tanks. Most aren't (they're made of sterner stuff than your average toilet paper) but if you got some of the 'spunlace' type liners they are cellulose without the chemical bonding agents so are fine in septic tanks. (Course it depends on your tank system too - I'd be less comfortable flushing them into a fancy aerated newfangled system but we have an ancient concrete tank so no worries here.)

I don't use liners unless I'm having to give DD pamol as I find that makes her poo stain and no amount of sun gets that out! Yup, I'd flag the liners altogether like misscheeky.
I tried both microfleece and flushable liners with DS and found he would poo outside the reuseable ones anyway and the flushable ones really irritated his bum.
Just my experience but it was easier just rinsing off and washing the nappies.

I use microfleece reusable liners. I wouldn't recommend them for newborn poo, you'd use twice as much water rinsing nappy and liner. Just go without and make sure your nappies get some sun time, the sun always gets the stains out.   I don't use any lines on ds 3 mnths and his nappies are always nice and white after a day in the sun


ETA once they are bigger and on solids resusable liners are awesome, you just shake in to the loo.

Thanks for the info, HB. Guess I'll just have to use reusable liners. But that to me sounds messy and I'm a bit worried about how much water we're going to be using! Anyone out there use reusable liners? My Dad runs a septic tank business down here- he says no. Treat them the same as a pad/tampon... Toilet paper is a different story as its made different, but the nappy liners seem to be along the same lines as a tampon...

Hi girls,

I have a question for the mummies who live rurally. DH has told me that because we're on a septic tank, I won't be able to flush my biodegradable nappy liners down the loo.

Is this true? If so, any suggestions?
