Apparently excema behind the ears is very common in babies and should clear up in the next couple of months.

I am following your advice and have gone back to the basics in feeding e.g one food at a time and increasing amounts etc just in case as still not entirely convinced its not an intolerence but at least I feel slight more proactive.

I think it would be a good idea to ask your GP though.

What you need to be looking at is Salicylate intolerance. This is an acid in fruits & vegetables, most concentration is just beneath the skin.

He might have a certain amount he can eat of pumpkin, so let him have a few days back on his original diet until he's sleeping better & then start introducing pumpkin again by small amounts & increase it daily to you find a level that he can eat. Intolerances improve with age as the body gets bigger.

What type of pumpkin did you use? The lowest salicylate pumpkin is butternut if you are making it yourself. I usually leave them to ripen for a few weeks before using ones I get at the supermarket.

Pears are also a great first food. I've found the baby food ones fine.

Specific pages.
Sleep disturbance

Feel free to ask questions, I live this daily.

He was diagnosed with reflux at about 4 weeks after 2 weeks of crying/screaming and spilling constantly. He was put on ranitidane which was great. At this stage he would also have the occasional green poo. At about 8 weeks I found patches of excema behind and in his ear.

At about 4 months we stopped the medication as he was fine without it. We started solids about 3 weeks ago. We were on holiday so used canned stuff (Green Monkey - Organic) and he seemed fine, although he got terrible rashes on his face but I thought it was due to his new found habit of rubbing his face over the floor in his attempts to crawl. In the last week at home he has been having pumpkin and has spent the entire night grizzling in his sleep as well as his excema getting worse and him getting extremely spilly again and crying on and off during the day.

My question is - would this be an intolerence? Or is he just unhappy about the solids experience? I have kinda always felt like something was up with him right from his reflux diagnose but he seemed ok for a while there.

Thoughts, ideas, advice, opinions - all welcome please!
