hey, my two boys go to a preschool (private) and they change anything from nappies to undies, and rinse the undies before putting them in a plastic bag for you to take home. everything is written down for the parents.

but i think says tht yur child can not go to preschool, kindy or anthing like that because they are not toliet trained is discrimanation (sp) do they reject children for disabilitys? every child learns at their own pace. if i was you i would go in and tell them its not fair to do this to a child, its not like they know better.

Yep ours is affiliated with the Presbyterian church in front of it. Yeah thats the sort of place Kebabkat - ours calls itself a Preschool. But there are lots of them in Auckland, they are normally affiliated with a church or particular philosophy (ie Steiner).

montessori is a private kindy. their policy is if the child isnt toilet trained they wont take them (or at least it is here in palmy) because their philosophy is about encouraging independance which is included in toileting. you would think that if they have a policy of not changing #2's that they would say no to children who have no been toilet trained.

it is all very well ringing the parents to come and change their child's nappy but if the parent is at work it means stopping work and with some jobs you cant just stop what you are doing there and then and then coming back.

We're at a private childcare, 6months -4yrs, and absolutely the nappies are changed. I'm not sure what the rules are with hand foot and mouth though, that may be a case where they wouldn't, but obviously that is an extreme circumstance and usually they most definately do. If for whatever reason they aren't happy, e.g if a child has the runs, they'll change the nappy first, and then call the parent.

O tends to do it at the end of the session (at mat / story time)....so I always end up changing him as soon as I get there. Its only an issue on those days when he does it close to the end of the session and they leave him until I get there....and I think sometimes that can be up to 25mins....(the theory being that its nearly the end of session anyway....)

Private kindy here and they change all nappies no matter whether its #1's or #2's!

For all toilet trained toddlers, they line up at 10am before morning tea and all go wees.

The ones I have spoken to want the kids to be fully toilet trained before starting as they don't have a changing area available and for hygiene reasons. I can understand why they want this. They do state when you enrol them that they wont change "messy" nappies - although I am not sure what that actually means...but it also seems to be a verbal thing rather than an official policy? There are tonnes of kids in nappies...

Hi there

Am just interested to know - if your toddlers is in a private preschool / Kindy do they change nappies?

The one where we have O seems to have a no #2s changing policy - they ring the parents to come in and do it. Which is a huge pain in the ass if I need to go further than 10mins away from home to do anything.

I wondered what is normal in these situations. I know that at AKA Kindys they need to be toilet trained....
