I remeber when I was little my mum had a metal thing that was attached to the oven that made it so that the top of the oven was not reachable unless you were quite tall. Only adults coudl put things on the stove and turn it on. We also had a lock on the oven door, you had to pull a lever at the same time as opening the oven door (hard for little ones)

You have to go through our kitchen and laundry to get to our back yard to Jasmine. thats what I hate about our kitchen as Megan has to go through the kitchen to go outside.

Oh my goodness, that breaks my heart.

I have seen a friend of my brothers get burns to 80% of his body and he was in a right state, it was awful as an adult, I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like for a child. Or as a mother to see that happen to your child.

She's still absolutely gorgeous though, isn't she?

It is so easy to get complacent and think that because your child has reached an age where they understand the things you tell them, that you don't need to worry so much any more.
These things can still happen so easily though, kids are curious and they are fast and even though they might understand a warning when you tell it to them they might not remember it days or weeks later.

Yup me too. I still only ever use the back elements of the stove, like my mum taught me and keep the handles pointed towards the wall so that little hands can't grab them.

Ouch, poor wee girls!

Someone said recently, and it stuck with me, that a baby having a cup of boiling liquid accidentally tipped on them (like a cup of tea or coffee) would be the equivalent (in terms of surface area burnt) of an adult having a 40 gallon drum tipped on them.
