We don't seem to have any symptoms of food allergy or intolerance except for the constipation. Will see how we go with the new laxative script from the Dr... although poor wee boy has a vomiting bug at the moment so can't even give him that, and not getting any fluids is going to make him even worse.

If things don't pick up soon, I will print out that sheet and take it to the Dr and point some things out, and see if we can get started investigating something.

Dairy allergy causes constipation, it was one of my sons symptoms. Now he's out grown that and we have the opposite issue

This site has a wealth of useful information on childhood allergies, the site is pretty huge so have given you the link to the page on symptoms of cow's milk allergy. If you have gotten no where in the past I strongly suggest printing out information and taking it with you for the Dr to read, harder to be fobbed off when you have facts.

Yeah it's weird alright!

And I am cutting out wheat, I skin prick to it, last night I wheezed after 15min & Littlebug you'll be interested this bit...this morning I was in the toilet for a long time, so yes you could be right in wheat constipating you. There is a guy here in Hamilton who has his own method for testing which uses muscle testing and this weird thing with a ruler (hard to explain!)

There is a place up in Auckland which uses muscle testing to diagnose and then treats the allergy/intolerance with acupressure. Mum_me, who do you go to with your muscle testing? I presuming it's the same thing we do. We see a guy in Rotorua

head smacking moment!!!! I've been thinking that I need to take the whole family up to see him & can friggin do it myself. I tend to limit it with the kids as I got an electric shock from DH & I doing it on A.

I think that if your DS had an allergy you would have far greater symptoms than just constipation. Both my kids have food allergies and they react within minutes of eating the offending food.

It is possible thought that he may be intolerant to some foods. There are no tests out there that are 'medically' based. Intolerances are a PITA. My son's intolerances were always far harder to manage than his allergies - because there is such a delay in the reaction, it is hard to pinpoint which food is the problem.   Probably your best bet is to see a naturopath. We have hard some accurate results using muscle testing.

Poor wee Ollie is permanently constipated. He was on special formula for constipation when he was a baby, and now he just seems to be getting worse than ever. We try not to give him things like cheese, and too many carbs... we stick to fruit and veges. He eats probiotic prune yoghurt every day mixed with Kiwicrush. When he has a bottle it is half cows milk and half water, and I add two teaspoons of Benefibre. He also has Duphalac and Coloxyl drops.

I'm getting to my wits end - the poor guy gets no relief and strains for days before he does a poo, and he gets so upset. I'm pretty sure he has little haemmrhoids (sp) because sometimes there is a bit of blood I'm not really sure what else I can do for the poor little guy, anyone else getting his treatment would be going like nothing else! I've booked a Dr's appointment tomorrow, I really need them to take me seriously this time because nothing is working

I was wondering if anyone knew if allergies cause constipation?
