He has a ball, I actually got some decent yoga in, and then he was so knackered he slept for two hours!

This is when he has the most energy. After lunch he is usually happier to play with his toys and do things like reading stories and playdough. If we try to have a quiet day at home his energy gets a bit much inside and he floats between inside and out so doesn't really get a chance to burn it off.

Its really hard with Lily only being 7 weeks old. I do have more energy now, but my goodness he's keeping me on my toes! I'll be watching this thread, he's not an arty child so any playdough, stickers, drawing/painting etc doesnt entertain at all and going out all the time isnt an option!

I find I can just sit there half the time and DS will busy himself with the various shapes / cutters etc. We only bring it out once a week max otherwise looses its appeal.

DS loves drawing and stickering too, I dont really have to participate just supervise (unless we are going all out with crafting!)

Duplo is great, you can sit down and chat and build stuff but isnt too taxing, even if you just plonk brick on brick you are still building the worlds tallest tower

There must be other stuff, will have a think for mummy exhaustion

Luckily Jackson wears out a bit at day care normally.

At the moment Jackson is the "sit up police". I come home, shamefully put on the Wiggles and lie on the couch, but give it 20 seconds and the little boss is yelling "sit up! sit up!" at me. No rest for mummy!

Luckily we have a big yard and I let him run out there. Or taking him to a big park and just letting him loose. Occassionally if we've not been able to get outside I take him to one of the indoor playgrounds and try to wear him out. Though that's getting harder as I am commanded to constantly come down the slide with him.

Concentration on any sort of indoor activities is next to non-existant. 2 mins of drawing, 2 mins with playdough etc. Luckily books will reliably sit him still for some time.

And when all else fails, the Wiggles tend to glue him to the spot (when he's not demanding I get up and "turn around" (dance) with him).

Puzzles, sticking stickers in her scrapbook (you can get some really cool stickers from the $2 shops) I made playdoh the other day and gave DD some sprinkles, leaves and glitter to stick in it she had fun for ages (and made a big mess)

I look after my 2.5 year old nephew alot and the other day I got some of those kids plastic scissors from the $2 shop we sat and cut out shapes and stuck stickers on them for ages he loved it, then we got blocks and built a zoo for all his plastic animals he loved that too.

Hope something in there is helpful, I find just putting a different spin on the usual activities helps to keep them interested, and then hopefully give you time to sit down and put your feet up.
