It was her own fault really for carrying her when they were out when she was little, so my neice expected it and would start screaming when she wouldn't carry her (so then she did again!). In the end she gave my neice the options - either get back in the buggy, or walk. Took a few screaming the place down tantrums, but after a couple of my sis not giving in she got the idea and happliy got int he buggy if she didn't want to walk.

I have been trying to make it a game ie lets run to the next lampost, who will get to the corner the fastest (and let her win), do silly walks like kicking our legs up or pretending to be an animal (lets hope the neighbours arent watching ), look whats that leaf/tree/flower/animal over there etc. A bit more work but no where near as much effort as picking up and carrying my heffalump with my destroyed wrist.

ETA to say that she also enjoys pushing her stroller. Funny child hates sitting in it but will happily push it up the street.

Edited by Shelt

I find the best thing I can do is try distract her, pointing out something for us to walk over to on the ground (or her height) and look at or anything that will get her mind of the fact that she's upset that I'm not carrying her. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You look after that back missy! I hope you feel better soon :-)

It's very rare that he will walk holding my hand, though he has done that before.

I put my lower back out on the weekend - hideously agonising - and it's because my pelvis and right hip are misaligned from carrying 11.5kg of DS on right hip.

How can I get him walking? I have no choice now... I CAN'T carry him, but is there a way (treats/inducements/anything) to get him on the ground and not clingy?

P.S. And let that be a warning to mums - treat your body well, we're not invincible! I'm really lucky I didn't slip a disc.
