We have also had this issue going on for a few months now. It got better but has now got even worse again and dd is 19 months.

My DD has been like this for months....I just let her follow me round now. I try and give her 'jobs' to do while I am doing housework - she carries washing for me when I am putting it away, stands on a chair next to me mixing things when i am cooking, washes dishes (swirls the brush in the sink), hands me pegs when I am hanging washing etc. I always tell her where I am and if I have to leave the room I tell her where I am going and that I will be back in a minute. She mostly sits at the top of the stairs and cries if I have to go downstairs and get wood or anything. Its very frustrating and I understand totally what you are going through.

I read something that said this kind of behaviour is coz they are scared you will go away and not come back, and that it actually means they have a secure attachment (which is a good thing - means you are their favourite person and they don't want you to leave!). I try to make sure I am compassionate no matter how trying I find the behaviour as its a fear of being without me causing the tantrums. Sounds like my DD a month or so ago (at that age). It was separation anxiety at my house, I always told her where I was going and that I would be back. Sounds like Separation anxiety to me...

Stick her in the highchair in front of a movie so you can get dinner ready..

I wouldn't ignore her, just call out to her that you are in the bathroom...

Hello everyone!!
Help please - my bub doesnt want to spend a minute in her own company!!!!!Im sooooo desperate!!!she just will follow me as a shadow everywhere, and if she loose me she will wander around house for a few min calling "mum" but then goes tantrum!Im following the common advice - to ignore her, but it works within 4 min till the next scandal..cooking breakfast or dinner is a hell! changing underwear or say "NO" is a hell etc.....I know there are a lot of parents with far bigger problems with kids, but Im afraid i do smth wrong ang growing monster!please HELP!!!!!!!!
