Or needing some missing nutrients? I would agree with getting a referral to a dietician if you are going to start limiting the diet of a child so young too. Even if you want to follow what the naturpath says, it would be a good idea to check with a dietician that you are getting all necessary nutrients into her.

Back to the bananas tho -- I'd say as long as it doesn't give her any poo issues, it should be fine to eat a few a day. She'll be on to the next phase in a month and wanting to eat something else all the time. Jake has phases - some days he'll eat 4 or 5 pears!! the next week its apples.

I am GI and we recently thought one of our DD was GI also, because she was having similar symptoms. We took her off gluten and saw an immediate improvement but reintroduced it with no side effects. A dietician saw us and said we were giving her too much fibre; basically the only thing we need to do is limit her weetbix intake and she's alright.

ALL mainstream oats sold in NZ contain gluten and that was a dumb comment for the naturopath to make. Also generally containing gluten is marmite, milo, and cornflakes/rice bubbles. If he doesn't know that, he doesn't know gluten.

As for millet porridge..... LOL

If she is fine with oats then she could be just intolerant of wheat maybe. Plus it's a cheap enough thing to buy to test. My super sensitive boy can eat these oat over any other brand. Dr Rodney Ford recommends Harroways as well.

In going wheat free myself & how much better I felt to days like today where I've eaten to much wheat for me, it is nicer to feel more comfy in your tummy & less wind!!!

Hopefully the banana phase will be short-lived and you won't need to worry too much. I think you may need to put most of them out of sight (and I know with that age that's almost impossible because they watch so closely!). If she doesn't seem to have a sore gut or trouble poo from it, I wouldn't worry about it unless it lasts more than a few days.

How has she been diagnosed GI so young?
