Thats Great KOS My FS said I can take clomid aswell as try to conceive.

I think my procedure was painful because the doc used alot of preasure to try to unblock my left tube, which was unsucessful.
Let us know how you get on.

That's great! Wendy is really nice and I found her very good at putting my mind at ease. Gillian was awesome and rubbed my back and held my hand so i didn't feel too afraid and they asked all the time if i felt any pain. It was honestly the best support from a medical team I've had through this whole journey. i'll be thinking of you!

I spoke to Auckland Radiology this morning (Wendy's doing my hsg too). They said that a long time ago you weren't meant to bd but things have changed and it's okay nowadays. I can also take my clomid too if I like. Yay no wasted month of not ttc

hey again kos, FA never mentioned anything to me about not getting preggers during hsg cycle....and we went to fiji, so bd'd more than usual! TMI- LOL. Hi, I'm booked in for my hsg on the 30 Nov.

Has anyone been told to avoid conceiving the month of their hsg?

My nurse at Fertility Assoc told me that I was not allowed to conceive but my doc at FA never mentioned a thing. From what I have read on the internet, heaps of people get pregnant the same month as their hsg. Hey Girls

I must be a big sook because my HSG was pretty painful !! ugh didnt like it one bit. I could feel every little bit of the procedure and it felt so weird/sore.
The dye flowed into my uterus and freely into my right tube but not into my left, that was so uncomfortable! The nurse sprayed something under my tounge to help relax the tubes apparently ( or me LOL ) and the doc applied another bit of dye with more pressure which so sore but it still didnt flow into the left tube - so Im a one hit wonder with only my righty working
Feeling a rough ATM and spotting quite heavy so just resting, So glad that its over!
I just pray the dye flush is going to do something good!

Hi again LadyBee,
I had my HSG about 4 weeks ago and was really anxious too. It's really not as bad as I had imagined. I would say it is as uncomfortable as a strong period pain. I didn't feel anything when they inserted the catheter and nothing when they insert the ink. The most uncomfortable part was the speculum and when they inflated the balloon I experienced cramping, but the second they deflate it, I felt no pain at all. No pain afterwards at all. I was just tired from stressing all morning! It is so interesting to watch everything on the monitor. I would take 2 neurofen or panadol 30 minutes before to help ease any discomfort. It is so much better than I had expected. And it is so great to have the results straight afterward. I'll be thinking of you. I had one too earlier this year, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was :-) I had a bit of cramping that night but after taking some painkillers it went away.

I had one of these x-rays last week and didn't even feel a thing! Its very much like a smear and is actually quite interesting to watch on the screen as the dye flows through.

I was actually surprised how painless and simple the procedure was!

I had a HSG xray earlier in the year. It is a little similar to a smear but a bit more invasive, if that makes sense.

You lie on the bed, with towels under your bum to lift it up and a tube is inserted into your cervix. They then release the dye through the tube into you and you can see it travelling through your tubes on the screen. My doctor talked me through the whole thing. She and the nurses were great!

I found the worst parts to be when they inserted the tube (a little push like when they take your smear sample) and then again when they released the dye (you can 'feel' it going through)

I didn't find it terriblly painful but more 'uncomfortable' and I figure that child birth will be a whole lot worse!

Take a pad or 2 with you though cos what goes up must come out. They did give me one but just in case.

I hope it all goes well with you and you find no blockages there.

I cant help with the procedure, I have never had one so I dont know if it hurts.
Waiting lists in Auckland are about 18 months for public funding (if you meet all the requirements). For private there are no waiting lists. You can start when ever you are ready.

Hello,

I had my lap and hyst about 4 weeks ago and diagnosed block tube I am booked for a HSG XRay next week and have been told if it confirms blockage it will mean IVF and if not blocked I can go down the clomid path (which we were originally hoping would be the case).

Is the HSG painful? I'm a big woose with procedures!

Does anyone know how long the public IVF wait list and the private IVF wait lists are?
