His sleep times sound like they are also the same. It may be a bit tricky, but we just stuck to his regular sleep times, even if he wasnt tired. So I would still put him down for his afternoon sleep at around 12, and if he wouldn't go to sleep until 1 that was fine with me, as long as he stayed in bed. His bedtime stayed at 7pm, even if he didnt end up waking from his afternoon sleep until 4. I don't know this helped him get back in his normal routine, or if it was that he got over that stage. Either way it seemed to work, and he didnt lose track of where he was at, and started sleeping through again
Good luck!!

He did grow out of it, but now if he wakes during the night it is normally because of a very wet nappy, or he is thirsty. So I just change the nappy and offer him a drink then leave him to it.

He normally wakes up around 8am, goes down for his nap between 2-3pm and sleeps for 2-3hrs then gets put to bed around 8-8.30pm though normally doesn't go to sleep till around 9pm

    Author: Rainbow
Subject: 36454
Posted: 29 October 2010 at 2:53pm

Not sure this is an actual problem as such but just keen to hear other peoples experiences or suggestions!

My DS has been a great night sleeper since he was little and his naps have got better as he got older. We have the odd blip with teething illness but majority of nights are great. But, just recently he wakes every morning around 4.30 and chats for up to an hour.

It is really very cute to listen too (at times!!) and is way better than crying. He goes back to sleep an hour later and then sleeps in til 8.30-9am - which is really quite late for him - when he slept through with no wake ups he was up at 7.

His nap now isn't til 1pm (it used to be 12pm) and he will sleep for 1.5-2 hours and then bedtime doesn't happen til much later (not asleep til 8pm but used to be 6.45-7pm) and then the cycle repeats....

Am wondering if his nap is too long and therefore he isn't tired enough to sleep all night or perhaps it is just a phase and I should just leave it be.

Have any of yours been through this? Or what would you suggest doing, if anything?

thanks!
