I just want to send you a huge Kazza, I am so so sorry to read your post.

I second what the other girls said, that being referred to the recurrent m/c clinic is the best place to start. My parents neighbour does some of the clinics at Auckland hospital and when I had my miscarriage he was ever so supportive. He told me they have such high rates of success and that most of their patients will go on to have babies within 1-2 years.

I'm sure there are alot of heart warming (and heart breaking at the same time) stories out there. I, myself, know 3 women (All of who I have nannied for) who've been through unbelievable heart break (still born twins, and 3 and 4 m/c's respectively). It breaks my heart to think of their stories but they have 2-3 beautiful happy healthy children now.

I don't know where people get the strength and the courage to carry on, but you too will find it.

Kazza it's a TERRIBLE road when you mc, let alone more than once! I have had 4 mc's :(

Without a doubt, go to a fertility specialist and/or a mc clinic and get some tests done. And dont be afraid to do your own research online and voice your opinion if you aren't being heard.

My mantra is 'women who get pregnant DO have babies' - so persevere and question!

There is a fantastic book out by Dr Allan Beer called 'Is Your Body Baby Friendly' and is well worth reading. Also another called 'Coping with Infertility' that I can't recall the author, but that's another book that helped me through the really rough stuff. It DOES get easier but right now you won't feel there is any way out of this darkness you are going through, and I really feel for you as it's hell on earth.

Make sure you get counselling as well - you need to be selfish at the moment and look after YOU!

Pook72 is right - after your 3rd miscarriage your LMC should refer you to the Recurrent MC. If you don't want to get answers/help/support via the public system then you could always go private and contact someone like Fertility Associates.

As for your question about why does anyone keep trying..... I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant but had 4 miscarriages before getting this far. All I can say is that in our case, the thought of not having a baby, or not trying again, hurt far more than the possibility of another MC.

Oh Kazza, I am so very sorry to hear of your heartbreaking news!

You should be able to be referred to the Recurrent MC clinic now, please ask you LMC for the details and a referral. It's based at Greenlane and they are such lovely people there. I don't know what else o suggest but I am looking into all sorts of natural therapies as well.
