Love them all.

For what you want to use it for (popping in and out of shops etc when bubs is a bit younger) I would recommend the Moby. I would tie mine before I went to town so that when I got there I could just put Jude straight into it and go into the shops. If I needed to get him out for something or put him back in his carseat to go to a different part of town - I wouldn't have to retie, just take him out, drive to next shop and pop him back in again. Easy as.

I have a Hoppediz and its really good him and I've used it since he was 4 ish month old. You can use a woven with a newborn and the Hoppediz come with a comprehensive manual. The only thing with wovens is you have to tie each time so not so convenient with a toddler.
Also I can recommend a Manduca although I didn't have it when DS was NB
Have a look at this
Waikato Baby Carriers

You will be able to try on some different wraps/slings/carriers to get an idea

All the info for their first meeting is there

Also not great for popping him in and out if I was going to town and getting in and out of the car for example.

The manduca is the carrier I reach for first and foremost. It is fantastic, great for popping in and out and although I didn't get it until DS was about 9months with the newborn insert I imagine it would be great.

The mei tei is my second choice, comes in lovely prints, easy to use and good for popping baby in and out of, fits easily in the glove box of the car or in the nappy bag or hand bag or whatever and I can easily breastfeed in it.

I haven't used the hoppediz too much, I find it quite confusing and I'm no good at knots. But, I'm hoping to make it down to the Wellington sling meet for some help with it.

I will be purchasing a ring sling if we have another babe, I can just see that it would be simple to use, easy to pop baby in and out of and good for breastfeeding in.

Hope that helps somewhat.

Maybe because he was a bigger from the start....9lb4.
So then bought a Moby and he enjoyed that much better. I think I would next time get the woven version - I checked with the slingbaby people that i was doing it right when i went to the parent and child show and Ollie at 3 months was already near the heaviest recommended for the moby because of stretch. But as I said he was a solid wee lad!!!
Can you get to the slingbabies get together/try before you buy? I think they have one your way.......

Once I got the hang of it thanks to one of the lovely sling babies ladies I have been using it all the time. What I like about it is that its relatively simple to use, its a cute print (ok, not essential but it helps!) and it distributes the weight really evenly over my back due to the amount of fabric.
The front pack I had didn't do this, same with my natures sway sling and both gave me a sore back.

The wovens are great for older kiddies though.
Can't comment on the sling but am also looking at a sling for this baby just simply because I think it'd be quicker to take baby in and out of than the moby which i am very proficient at after my first child.

If you get a genuine one (not the cheap ripoffs on TM), then it shouldn't stretch b/c it's a strong fabric.

From my experience, you want to be able to be completely hands-free so you can hold the toddler's hands, and if need be, pick them up and chuck them on your hip. I haven't tried the Hoppediz - it looks like it's just a woven version of a Moby. Personally, I like the softness of the Moby for a newborn, but that's just me!

Would be interested to hear anyone who's tried both.

Really don't want to spend much more than $100 as the Elite we already have will be fine for when baby is a bit older and more 'robust'.

Any comments much appreciated, thanks.
